Our investigation of Instagram and Facebook shows Meta has not adequately assessed the risks of features such as infinite scroll, auto-play, push notifications, and recommender systems.
Meta can now exercise its right to defence before these preliminary findings are confirmed.

Algorithms and different ways of organizing content is fine in general, but it must not be allowed in a form that learns the user's behavior patterns and increasingly sends them down rabbit holes as they get more engaged.

@EUCommission Facebook/ meta also now makes it difficult to delete an account by hiding the function (if, indeed, it still exists). Guidance directs you to "Account Settings", but within that menu, "Delete Account" is nowhere to be found. This is in breach of the GDPR principle, "the right to be forgotten".
@RejoinEU @EUCommission well considering the EU has just signed up with meta to allow them to suck up all of the child's data within the EU's borders to do with it as they please and let's face it so far they've never done anything good with people's private data, I guess they won't do anything about this absolutely biblical breach, I guess they just go after the soft targets...

I really hope in building our own EU digital infrastructure and services we will create an industry not fully funded by advertisements and data brokers.
We have some good ingredients, but there will also be difficulties because a lot of services seemed to be "free" to the users...

Don't pretend you don't know this is by design and not an undesirable effect!! The question is, what will you do about it? Send them more of our data? Give them more approval to scan our conversations to "protect" us???

I'm aware of the distinction between the EU Commission and the EU Parliament, but this doesn't look good. Especially after she allowed Chat Control back on despite the majority voting against it. It's compound hypocrisy, designed to enable mass surveillance on the very people you're supposed to be representing. May the ever worsening global warming caused by your AI efforts burn us all soon!
