I suppose it's possible that the BIOS boot order I had pointed to my new NVME with grub and LM finally was accepted (it was ignored before so I had to hit esc to select the NVME with grub as a boot drive). So the firmware basically just fixed a bug. Then when the machine instead got to the NVME grub menu directly my esc hit was taken from the key buffer and brought me directly out of the grub menu. Yeah, something like that, maybe?

Unfortunately, this now broke my "anti-clutter anti-junk policy" that I sticked through from 2023 up to this month. More than 2 years without buying any kind of physical goods (except the Dwarf Fortress Vinyl).

Because now I want MORE, MORE RETRO GAMES, MORE JUNK TO CLUTTER ONLY TO REGRET LATER 😅

My new hunt includes obscure PS1 stuff:
- Baroque
- King's Field
- Shadow Tower

Saturday I got a rare Shadow Tower Official Guidebook, in incredible condition.

Every time I am forced to use CMake I further convince myself that it must all be some sort of an elaborate collective prank.
It's the only logical explanation I can find as to why so many people use it, given how an utter shit of a build tool it is.

After days of setting up Linux mint applied the lingering updates via the update manager and my system became a blank grub prompt. Thanks linux. Did it cripple Windows 11 (on separate drive from grub) too?

But it was just some BIOS keys changing, and now it works? Thanks firmware?

I used to press Esc on BIOS boot to get to the drive select, boot that into Grub menu, but now I have to hit F2 to get directly to grub. F2 SHOULD lead directly to the BIOS setup screen on this machine though.

Finally got the hull on my ship. Next up, sanding, sanding, sanding .... and then maybe more sanding?

Final Fantasy VII, complete (case, cover, manual and all discs) for €1.84 was real. So I also got FFVII International and the OST. The OST is flawless, even the stickers are like new.

And I went ahead and got the new polygonal Cloud Figurine.

In total <€35 in the picture. Everything is cheaper in Japan (food, clothing, games, etc).

I also found Zelda A Link to the Past (the JP SNES version), complete, for €8.

I keep being successful indie studios post breakdowns of "what they did right and wrong" for others to learn, going into great detail about their design and marketing strategy. But what they don't understand is that their success is in something that they took granted, nearly all of them start with "We had a team of (over 5 people) and we secured initial funding of (any amount)".
