Three times now the European Parliament has voted against a proposal to allow Meta, TikTok, Snap etc to scan all your private communications for child sexual abuse material, "just in case". 1/
This is bad because the "derogation" that allows this scanning is incredibly sloppy. There are no quality requirements for example, nor does it in any way involve legal checks and balances. Through SCANDALOUS tricks, despite parliament voting against it, the derogation was passed today. 2/
Thanks to a number of vigilant MEPs (like @bartgroothuis) an amendment was accepted that protects our Signal and WhatsApp messages from this terrible legislation, for now. 3/

“Adorable” Finder guy completely misunderstands the meaning of the Finder icon. It’s like there’s no one left at Apple who understands or cares about any of the history or design of Apple products at this point.
The Finder icon is a classic Mac OS user icon, in profile, placed in front of a “Happy Mac” startup symbol that you would see when booting the original Mac. It’s not one person’s face. It’s a representation of the intersection of the user and their Macintosh.

We are not absent here, but the truth is that we have exhausted all words.
For more than two and a half years, we have been screaming without pause, writing, documenting, and telling everything we have been through, and everything that was taken from us, word by word, in the hope that somewhere in this world there would remain something willing to listen.
But nothing changed.
The genocide did not stop,
the massacres did not stop,
the famine did not stop.
And here we are today, on the verge of putting down our pens; not because the story has ended, but because the world chose not to read.
We wrote the pain, we wrote the loss, we wrote the hunger, we wrote the names of those who left, and we wrote about those who are still waiting for their turn to survive or die.
Our cries no longer seem to make an impact, and our words no longer shake anyone’s conscience.
Not because our suffering is any less worthy of being told, but because this world has begun to pass over blood as though it were passing news, over famine as though it were a number, and over death as though it were a scene it had grown used to.
And for the first time… not because we stopped speaking, but because we no longer know what more can be said than has already been said.
