Out past the concession stands, Taiwan is rehearsing the nightmare: blockade, sabotage, hijacked broadcasts, bank runs, quake dust, invasion panic, and Chinese ships prowling the water like sharks in parade bunting.

Ukraine is locked into the long war machine while NATO writes larger checks and calls it stability.

Congo’s Ebola outbreak is climbing through death and displacement with no neat vaccine cavalry coming over the hill.

AI, that grinning electric lizard, is loose in the tent selling fraud, synthetic truth, cybercrime, bio-risk, and hallucinated authority at wholesale prices.

The markets are calm because markets are professionally insane.

The Supreme Court is moving machinery in the shadows while everyone argues over flags, donors, artists, patriotic pageantry, and who got paid to stand nearest the throne.

This is not asteroid doom.

That would be clean.

This is carnival doom: bad wiring, hot grease, crooked barkers, diseased animals, drunk operators, and a 250-year-old ride still running because nobody has the nerve to pull the plug.

The circus is loud. The danger is quieter.

Brittle systems failing politely in public while the band plays “America the Beautiful” through a blown speaker.
