    Definitely don't do any of the clearly explained activities in this video.

    Thank goodness, I had no idea how easy it was to become a dangerous "flockhunter" who's taking down surveillance cameras in an almost impossible to systematically prosecute way. I'll be sure to never do anything he instructs us on how not to do!

    @jcrabapple I would never do this, especially by adding a pebble or two into my shoes to throw off my gait, which can also be detected by these cameras and matched with mobile phone data. Definitely wouldn't do that.

    @jcrabapple
    Especially since an angle grinder with a metal cutting wheel would be a better choice😉

    @arniepix @jcrabapple faster yes, but it creates a shower of sparks and more noise too.

    That recip saw would’ve worked faster if
    1) they didn’t have a junk recip saw. Good ones would’ve gone much faster.
    2) Diablo blades are the best vs any others
    3) cut closer to the base so there’s less vibration and energy loss. You want to be cutting not just shaking things around.

    @jcrabapple It’s fortunate that the vandals don’t know that movement is the enemy of a reciprocating saw and that they’d go much faster if they cut closer to the ground where the pole would shift much less.

    @jcrabapple In my area, these cameras are mostly mounted on posts that already exist, like telephone poles and metal lamp posts.

    Many people came to a recent city hall meeting to speak out against renewing Flock contracts. A few clear plants from the police department, Flock and even Moms for Liberty parroted the surveillance party line.

    The council, which is relatively liberal, had a short debate and then kicked the can down the road for another year of Flock cameras. I still think that political pressure is the way to go here even though it takes more patience.

    @jcrabapple I don't understand why he's destroying the solar panel, too. It's reusable.
    Is it to avoid being accused of theft?

    @Mimesatwork @jcrabapple I don’t know, on eBay, at a car boot sale....
    Sell them second-hand and donate the money to charities.
    Except if there is some tracking device on it, but I think it would be too expensive for the manufacturer to fit a tracker into small and cheap solar panels.

    These goods were made by the working poor; it is better to distribute them to the people than to destroy them.
    It’s a way of using capitalism against itself.

    @LeLutin_SurLeMur @jcrabapple They have serial numbers. Serial numbers on the device plus the parts. That's now stolen goods in general are tracked. And there are other cameras around cities than just Flock, watching sidewalks when people in black are dragging around solar panels.

    I know your intention is good. In some other country besides the US, your way might work great

    @Oaktag @jcrabapple
    I understand that, but to me it’s daft not to reuse things that can be reused and that were made by workers exploited by capitalism.
    In the case of solar panels – especially small ones – it’s easy to hide them, then come back later to retrieve them and sell them.
    Of course, there’s the problem of the sniffer dogs, as his scent will be on the items. But there are ways to remove their scent from the panels (without harming the dogs).

    @jcrabapple I know we're not supposed to judge anyone based on their appearance...but man does this dude have a lot going on. Is he wearing those eye color changing contacts from the 90s?

    @Twotired @jcrabapple can’t track the brand. Don’t want to buy a new saw for each job. All the cops have to start with is “guy in black with a saw”.

    @mcnado @jcrabapple Ah. Obvious when you say it. Somehow it never occurred to me that it was to hide the details of the saw. I was thinking it was to keep some kind of trace evidence out of the saw or out of the crime scene.

    @Twotired @jcrabapple If the heros of law enforcement arrest one of these terrible persons and search their homes, they might find a saw of brand X, but they can't say the "crime" was committed with a brand X saw.

    Definitely don't do this!

    @jcrabapple

    Some Mexican fencing contractors taught me a way to take out metal poles quickly and easily, with a sharp chisel and a hammer.

    On the bottom edge of the pole, where it meets the concrete, punch through the pole, breaking it in a continuous arc on the side opposite of where you want the pole to fall.

    When you have removed enough strength on that side, the pole can just be pushed or pulled over, using itself as a lever of ever-increasing length.

    Never done it on an aluminum pole.

    @seachanged @jcrabapple unfortunately, any anarchist using that method would stand out from a crowd of similar anarchists using the method shown in the video, making it easier to tie to other similar events which they may or may not have played a part in

    Thank god, somebody exposed those vile and vicious actions, so that I now know, what not to do and which actions definetely to report.
