    🎃 Stray Kitten Report 8:
Little Charly found a role model in Noutti, my red tabby cat (also my inspiration for Carrot, in my comics), and thanks to that, got a speedrun education in 'how to cat' at home, including meowing at the bed in the morning, sleeping around when I'm drawing, asking for cuddles on the sofa.
It's so easy when this happens. I consider him now fully domesticated. 🎉

A shot on the sofa; Noutti in front, Charly in background, playing with a toy.
A shot under the table: on two chairs, Noutti on the left, Charly on the right.
A shot while receiving food. Noutti eats, so Charly wants to try the same food and turn around him.
On cushions nearby my desk: Noutti is making his toilet routine. Charly observes how he do it with attention, learning.

@Sobex We never could approach the mom; always a distance of 3, 4m and running away at any quick movements.
Two weeks ago, she started to be aggressive to the kittens, until a point where she returned to the forest... She still visits at night and we feed her, but behave with the kittens as if they were strangers. I have no hope for domesticating her.
But at one point, I'll have to catch her, and bring her to the vet for sterilization; or we'll have another stray kitten delivery next year.

@davidrevoy Aww, yeah, adults take a lot of patience and a slightly different strategy. They can be done (I've made friends with three already), but sometimes they simply won't. I wouldn't give up on her yet, especially since she's still coming to feed, but she definitely plays by her own rules.

It took a few months to be able to touch the little man; I had a "safe zone" on top of our cat house where he was fed and very slowly acclimated to touch. It took another year for him to feel 100% safe.

@ToonLink You are right. I'll not give up and keep the feeding long term. At least, she might not respond at all to whistling/calling but she is like a clock for her visit for food. Around 1am, she seats in front of the door and wait. When I open the door, she run like 8 meters away. I leave the food, and then I have to close back the door. Only then, she come and eat.
She really has a maximum security protocol with humans.

@oots Charlotte still lives outside. Each day I bring her food closer inside the house, but the interiors still terrifies her.
She has a total different approach than Charly; and she doesn't learn from other cats, including her own brother.
She meow super loudly and often, it's her favorite way to communicate.

But we are doing progress: yesterday, she accepted to come close to my hand and smell it.She also did the rounded back, with tail up when she saw me, with happy eyes. 💜

@davidrevoy I was more thinking about orange cat behavior... but glad I could nerd snipe a fellow artist

And I think I got an idea for an orange cat shapeshifter now...

@kartoffelcheetah Thanks! Yes, it's small patches of a large polar fleece blanket I had. I cut it to cover and protect this way the fabric of the chair. It's not rare a cat come back home with the cat door with muddy paw or fur full of rain. This way, I can weekly wash them.

@John_Loader I don't, but noted; I'll try to find it in French, I just read the pitch in English on the page of an online merchant and it sounds really good.

@davidrevoy I do not believe any cats are domesticated. I do not believe that cats can be domesticated. I think that that cat has been getting a speed training lesson on how to domesticate humans. And now it knows!
