Time, once again, for Vivid Language, the interesting round up thing of interesting #audioDescription things.

It's an all new That Real Blind Tech Show with a mega Laugh For Sight Recap with clips, we then discuss new Apple products, the new Amazon Devices and how bad the A Lady has gotten, and of course other tech nonsense. listen here https://thatrealblindtechshow.libsyn.com/episode-216-laugh-for-sight-19-recap-and-unspeakable-english-text
Alien³: The Legacy Cut, an ambitious A34K fan edit combining the Theatrical and Assembly Cuts with restored visual effects, is now available with Audio Description!
@BrettCoulstock and I adapted our original AD for this new version, featuring approximately 755 lines of narration.
Our AD is an independent, non-commercial production, unaffiliated with the film's rights holders.
Isolated narration: https://youtu.be/Mo-ui5gxhyE

#AudioDescription
Listening to the AD for "Backrooms" (2026), and it's well done. They've definitely given some thought as how to describe the strange space of the backrooms and the artifacts in it. Also feel unusual in that it does include a bit of camera work too, describing shots that emphasise the spookiness of the place or illustrate how someone reacts to being there.. Except one thing: the main character is a black guy, which is apparently not important to describe.
I have begun practicing what I call "Intentional Bookmarking" as an experiment.
It's easy to bookmark something. Too easy.
I now have a file "index.html" in my home directory. And to add a bookmark, I add a list item, and the HTML for the hyperlink.
I'm hoping the effort required to make a link is the sweet spot between bookmark hoarding (when you bookmark everything just-in-case) and high friction deliberate practice with excerpts, tags, etc.
#AudioDescription link round-up for September 2026.

You're spared this month from a long post about #AI, and instead I talk about juggling and trombones. Maybe next month.
"These are my words"
These are my words, free, plucked from the flow, finger-typed with intent and whimsy, thought about, reconsidered, edited once, twice, three-times, read aloud, then published; a human being being human.
It's an all new That Real Blind Tech Show as we discuss all the news that came out of Meta Connect, our thoughts of iOS 27, Siri AI, the new Siri app, and the usual insanity that comes to an episode of TRBTS show. Don't trust VoiceOver's pronunciation of all the words in this episode title. https://thatrealblindtechshow.libsyn.com/episode-214-finger-on-the-gai-charm
I find it completely obnoxious when websites change the mouse pointer.
On brennan.day, a fat, cartoony pointer.
On another site, a magic wand that leaves sparkles.
On Artyom Bologov's site (which I otherwise like reading) it becomes a giant scribbled arrow.
None of these things spark joy, or make it easier to interact with anything. It's like messing with the scroll-bars.
Instead of reading, you're distracted by this persistent, disorientating, weird change.
You've heard the rest now hear the best most entertaining Apple Event Recap on the latest That Real Blind Tech Show more Clauding, Brian has written a Country Rock sure to be a hit and has produced a music video, we discuss the tool he has been using then dive in to all the stuff Apple announced listen here https://thatrealblindtechshow.libsyn.com/episode-213-apple-event-fully-erect-physically-and-metaphorically
When you make a phone call and they tell you it's being recorded for "training and quality" purposes, think about what training means these days. If you consent, an AI may be training on your voice and your words.
They don't mention their retention period. They don't mention on whose servers and in what jurisdiction these recordings are kept.
It's more for their protection and benefit, and not yours.
I would strongly urge anyone to decline consent to this.
Time for another edition of “Vivid Language”, the monthly collated and curated round up of interesting #audioDescription things.

It's an all new That Real Blind Tech show. Join us as we go through the history of Privacy Wonkers. Think the mainstream is panicking over cameras on the Meta Frames? Well wait til you hear how people panicked when cameras first came to phones, or when Kodak invented the camera, the Walkman came on the scene, The Eifel Tower, and much more. Privacy Wonkers have been here for centuries! We even now have a jingle for them! Listen here https://thatrealblindtechshow.libsyn.com/episode-212-two-cox-and-a-johnson-a-history-of-privacy-wonking-0
I’ve been really disappointed by how many recent Disney releases have arrived without #AudioDescription. Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, Vampirina, Electric Bloom, Zombies 4, Descendants: Wicked Wonderland, and now Camp Rock 3.
As someone who uses AD, I feel increasingly left out. Is there a shortage, strike, or something else happening in the industry? Whatever the reason, accessibility shouldn’t be moving backward.

Of course when you hit that, it's “I've got a hammer and I never noticed before, but I'm surrounded by nails!”
It follows, then, that love in this definition is not *wisdom*.
Wisdom largely comes from using the hammer trying to bash in a screw, and learning that what you really needed was a different kind of tool entirely.
Anyway: I love XML and XSLT! 😎
In other words, you're productive, you're learning, and when you have a serious problem the time/effort to solve it is mostly proportional to what you are trying to accomplish.
And then people who love Rust go on to say, “Let's rewrite everything in Rust!”
(Sorry for picking on Rust, it could be anything really)
… continued.
A lot of people will say they “love” some technology. For example: “I love rust”.
I think what they mean is that they are productive in their chosen technology, and any friction is generally a learning experience that leads to greater proficiency and understanding, and the friction generally requires a not unreasonable amount of time to overcome.
