Amsterdam police seized a server belonging to Autistici/Inventati (A/I) from a data center at Amsterdam Science Park, acting on a US legal assistance request. Police digital experts are making an image of the drive, which goes straight to the US.
A/I spent 25 years providing free web hosting and email to about 20,000 left-wing and anti-capitalist groups. In August the US branded it a terrorist organization.

Of is het normaal dat de politie invallen doet zonder tussenkomst/toestemming van een rechter?

In bepaalde gevallen (spoedeisend/heterdaad) kunnen ze dat ja.
In dit geval gaat het denk ik om een rechtshulpverzoek en in dat geval loopt alles via de OvJ. Weet niet hoe dat bij rechtshulp zit maar normaliter is de OvJ degene die de doorzoeking beveelt (in NL strafzaken)

Fascism in the 21st century is an intra-national movement that operates in the same lawless areas between jusisdictions as the petroleum conglomerates that provide its finances. To the degree that hydrocarbons replaced the need for cheap human labor A/I is the 21st c. equivelant of the abolitionist movement. It never ended, conflicts are only ever frozen.

@Gina @wronglang the real problem is the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty framework that has largely been pushed for by the US and EU countries. the incident in which che.indymedia.org was seized was the first time MLATs were abused in this way, but it has happened several times since then.
if your goal is to resist censorship by the US-UK-EU-AU-NZ sphere, your only real option is to host somewhere like Brazil at this point

@Netzblockierer @Gina @torproject Random question: do you know of a service that let's you use them as an email send/receive box, but let's you self host an IMAP like service that will exchange emails with this service but be transparent to clients that would connect to this self hosted server? Goal is to not have to deal with email server complexity, spam, etc.

- Best-Case you setup a sort-of #Proxy that transparently relays #eMail but that too would be subject to #hijacking like a #domain or managed Service…
