The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot

@ketan geez this is so revealing. I can't believe they did this.
@ketan It’s so revealing that every office-work AI ad seems to endorse the worst asshole behavior in people. Utter neglect, then taking credit for someone else’s work, then bullshitting your way through, all while not caring about the work product, all for the grand goal of making an extra dollar or winning corporate praise…just the worst aspects of humanity.
@drahardja @ketan They know their audience
@drahardja Yeah, Apple Intelligence ads were exactly like that too. "Oops I forgot to read the presentation my colleagues put effort into, I'll ask my Mac to extract three key points to pretend I've read it, I'm such a good person"
@trikuxabi @drahardja Also Claude, "your UNFAIR advantadge" 🙄
@drahardja @ketan They know their target audience.
@ketan I think it overstates the quality of AI, it's not going to rise above the level of the mediocre white guy, merely equal what's expected of someone of his ability. His co-worker presumably will have done an incredible amount of work just to get what he got given racial underestimations and all and without AI or stealing someone else's glory out of pure envy and inferiority.
@ketan
This ad openly sells slop as a tool for the maintenance of white supremacy
@ketan Morally this is somewhere in the ballpark of the car company promising to set "nature lovers free" when they buy the big-ass SUV and have a blast running it roughshod all over the woodland and prairie. At some point the driver stops, gets out and pets a small plant, then gets back in the SUV and floors it. This was from ~20ya.
@ketan @drahardja This is satire, right? This is not a real ad or is it?
@finestructure @ketan @drahardja AI ads are unironically this cringe. My (least) favourite one was by Apple in which a wife forgets her husband's birthday, gets passively upset at her children for remembering and getting gifts, then uses AI to "gift" her husband something like a collage or montage of photos from her phone, something that phones create automatically these days.
@loathsome_dongeater @ketan @drahardja Wow, that sounds terrible. That’s like a digital petrol station bouquet but with even less effort and therefore more of an insult.
@finestructure @ketan @drahardja Poe's Law. As things become more extreme, they become indistinguishable from their own parody.
@ketan That really illustrates what AI is doing to our society...
@ketan sorry the Apple Warren one still wins for me on accuracy. https://youtu.be/YP-ukrBVDH8?si=CiGpJSl3wIEY9QUq #ai
@ketan
Wow, they’ve strung together some of the worst human traits (racism, envy, greed, selfishness, hypocrisy, superficiality...) and labeled them as desirable, only to then use them to promote a product?😵💫
So this is it — the brave new world envisioned by the tech fascists, the one that’s supposed to solve all our problems on Earth?😳
Can I hope this is satire?🥴 🫣
It is truly tragic that we have reached the point where we see something like this, and we can't tell if its parody or Microsoft just taking the mask completely off.
so, he and ai steals it then
