@scottmichaud @AnarchoNinaWrites In a way, Iran wouldn’t have been in that position if the fascist in the White House hadn’t blundered himself at their mercy, but it seems rather clear to me that Iran is playing a careful game of keeping this an issue until the midterms, at this point.

(Though, Israel also has a big part in ensuring this doesn’t stop, Trump put himself at the mercy of his Junior partner. Though, given the US strength, if he really cared to keep them in line, pretty sure that strong pressure could be exerted)

@Sobex @AnarchoNinaWrites The alternative is giving Trump what he wants, which is a terrible idea because, time and time again, Trump has come back to re-harass people who folded whenever the next ego-wound happens.

Speaking as a Canadian, btw. Bullshit fentanyl stuff "Okay fine we'll run helicopters at the border for your delusion" cool then he bullied harder when the tariffs didn't go his way. UK similar. Europe similar.

@scottmichaud @Sobex I mean Iran sued for peace three times and we attacked them three times. We literally signed the MOU and then broke it inside of a week.

There is literally no way in which Iran is prolonging this war. I don't really care what happened under Carter. This isn't then. The facts are, plainly speaking, we keep reigniting the war - not them.

@scottmichaud @Sobex As i stated in the reply to the first post - Wintour is in a round about way arguing that Iran is responsible for this war dragging into the midterms because they didn't give up and just let Trump ignore the treaty. It's a "stop making me hurt you baby" argument and it's fucking grotesque.

The fact that someone in this thread thinks its plausible somehow is just evidence that imperial propaganda and American exceptionalism are real forces in our society.

@AnarchoNinaWrites @scottmichaud @Sobex after 9/11 Iran tried a rapprochement with the USA, since they saw the salafi extremists (mostly funded by Saudi) as a common enemy. They even wanted to help the US find Bin Laden, and help in Afghanistan against the Taliban. They were told to F off. This is all reprisal from the USA for the Iranians daring to expel the US’s favourite dictator in 1979. The colonial hegemony must be maintained.
