You can't see all of the old dudes who are working on our deck in this photo. All are retired and want to help us get our new deck up.
A truckload of materials arrived this morning as well as extra old dudes. The original brothers called in more brothers. There are 12 siblings all together.
The decking will be installed today with the rails and stairs next week.
My husband is touched by their kindness in finishing his unfinished project. He truly doesn't know how to thank them.
In the crowd is a fellow Vietnam veteran who is a bladder cancer survivor too. He can commiserate with my husband, his old friend, in a way most of us can't.
Summer is keeping an eye on them.
Just in case.

@NorcalGma2 I am also having a challenging day with good connections. That student crashing into consequences **came back** so we can start wrestling with them. That other student came back and I answered a diagnostic question so I know better how to help. That other student, well, I am HOPING I'm helping.....

@NorcalGma2 The best way to thank them would be to have them throw a ball for Summer until she’s tired (Summer will never be tired). Playing with a dog makes all old dudes happier than anything in the world.

@NorcalGma2 I love this reminder about kindness. Along the same lines, after a horrible divorce, my entire book club and their families came out for a day of hard work around my house. Cutting up wood, weeding, patching walls for painting. I was embarrassed to accept their help, but was, and still am, touched by their kindness when I was down.
