My wife is leaving me.... for a week in Toronto starting tomorrow. Every 30 minutes or so I'm getting instructions on how to manage the pets or how to stay alive while she's gone. There are 2 pages of additional instructions on a clipboard on the kitchen island.
Is she going overboard?

@PaulBusch Hah. When my mom went on a bike trip to Italy this year, she had me stay with my 84 yr old dad for the 2 weeks. As far as I can tell, he had been planning to subsist on canned pork & beans for 2 weeks!
It was quite nice to spend 2 weeks with dad after all these years.
My go-to would be mac & cheese....
@PaulBusch I hate to say this but if your wife felt like she needs to do this amount of labour to feel comfortable leaving you alone, it’s not funny and/or cute, and you should read about women’s emotional load in relationships. There is room to make both of your lives better ❤️

He does the cooking and meal planning and is certain I won't eat anything but chips and ice cream when he's not here 😁

It also works this way, even in many gay relationships. I had to write down: twice a day, check to see if the dogs need water.

@PaulBusch lol. My wife knows I don't really need instructions for drinking beer and getting kebabs for dinner. 😂 And I certainly wouldn't need instructions for how to feed the dog.
Obviously the dog gets a kebab too...

@penpencilbrush @PaulBusch If both partners are happy with the situation, then I think it's probably okay. I do think whichever spouse is somewhat helpless should at least learn how the household/bills/appliances/etc. work, in case the other spouse dies suddenly or is incapacitated. My spouse is most definitely not a baby, or helpless, but we each have our areas of expertise, and I sometimes worry how things will get paid if something happens to me and he can't access our accounts on line. . . .
