Every panel I go on: "Gina but isn't open source inherently less secure than closed source?"
Meanwhile, MS Paint does remote code execution now 💀

@Gina people STILL think that? Holy shit
@koen "but if everyone can see your code can't they also see your data?" Sigh.
I nowadays simplify it by saying "would you buy a meal made of mystery ingredients?" That's seems to help.
@Gina That's a brilliant analogy!
@Gina Have fun!
@Gina Have fun! I hope that it goes well.
@Gina Lots of nice important words
@Gina good luck superstar!
@Gina Oh, this conference sounds great! (Do you know if the presentations will be recorded?)
@clickhere not sure. I do see a big camera in the back of the room, but not sure if its for pictures or video.
@Gina Aha - thank you (esp for replying in the middle of your day!). I'll keep an eye out. 🤞🏼
@Gina it's really baffling. This is one of the questions that keeps coming up since decades. 🙁
@Gina right wel lets see how we get trough paintpocalypse today, might need to redraw al my architecture now :')
At this point it might be saver to just put my ssh keys in my likedin bio.
@Gina How do they get this idiot idea??
@megatronicthronbanks code visible bad, invisble code unhackable!
@Gina Since my background is food related i explain it amateurish this way.
If i cook a sauce (😉) i know what went in it. If a corp cooks it and forgets the label, who knows what`s inside.
Eet smakelijk. 🌶️
@Gina who the fuck still asks that in the year 2026?
@Gina wat 🥴
@Gina only if your method of security is obfuscation 😬
@Gina I would question if you're really getting that taken still, but then I had a friend get statements about how Linux isn't yet ready for production workloads only a year or two ago (from a bank)
@LapTop006
I wonder how many Linux machines my data passes through when interacting with my bank 😒 🤔
@Gina
@MurrayWindripper @LapTop006 @Gina
That depends. A lot of linux 'instances' is likely. Some may just be a set of hardened containers in a kubernetes cluster.
I used to deploy some myself.
@Gina People are duped into believing that it's inherently *LESS* secure? What year is this?
@landelare "yeah but if the code is visible won't people steal my data?"
I think we sometimes forget that IT is it's own niche. Fortunately these questions are becoming less and less prevalent.
