Pre @mozfest2026 breakfast, and preparing for my talk today about citizen coders and how to take on the business software ecosystem. Hope to see you there! https://events.mozillafoundation.org/e/mozilla-festival-2026/page/schedule?sessionId=433833 #wilding #opensource @mozilla

On my way to Barcelona for #MozFest today! ✈️
Looking forward to connecting with the global open source & digital rights ecosystem.

I’ll be in the Developers Wilding track with the forum session:
“Wilding business software: can citizen coders beat Microsoft?”
Talking about open-source stacks, citizen coders, and practical alternatives to locked-in enterprise software.

Join the session (or connect online) and say hi if you’re around:

Okay, so Microsoft running off with @nextcloud feels a bit like the arms industry sponsoring Woodstock, but hey, all support is welcome? Or something?

Anyway, this is obviously a logical follow-up to iBestuur, which last week, in issue 60 of 2026 on page 31 (thought I’d save everyone the page-flipping), declared Nextcloud inevitable for government in a two-pager ;)

For anyone with an iBestuur account, here’s the link to the article: https://onlinetouch.nl/ibestuur/ibestuur-60-2026/31?html=true#/31/ (With of course @Gina )

So, thinking about a track for @fosdem.

By and for app builders: raw, practical experience from people who build, ship, support and sell apps on open source platforms.

Getting more into the founder side of things instead of the policy side. Anyone interested in thinking along? (The deadline is, of course, tonight)

Hahaha okay, so all the positive reactions to this post have inspired me to start an easter egg hunt on our own website for #NextcloudConf26. Details are on -> https://fosstodon.org/@Rubenlinde/117313538160525865

The rules are simple: when you complete a game, a modal appears showing your total score and the games you've found. Post a screenshot of it in reply to this post, and whoever has found the most games wins!

In the unlikely event that several people find ALL the games (we might still add some this week, depending on how the hackathon goes), the person with the highest score wins. You can post as many screenshots as you like, but please keep it friendly.

Let's play a game :) This week Conduction is hacking along at with @nextcloud at #NextcloudCon26.
To keep things fun, we've hidden some mini games on our website.

In honour of the Contributors Week, we'll reward the person who finds the most of them before 25 September 2026, 17:00 with an Amsterdam beer package (European postage included). Rules are in the first comment, so let go! ->

Have a great Nextcloud Contributors Week! And Sharing is caring ;)

:')

We love @nextcloud , but getting it into the right corporate styling for our clients always proved difficult. So today at #NextcloudCon26 we are launching Thematic (https://apps.nextcloud.com/apps/thematiq) beta, a full visual wcag proof theme builder for Nextcloud that lets you change the color and design of every visual component. It also lets you style per app, user or user group, and share templates between organisations.

Remko will be explaining it all in a lightning talk at 15:00. Will we see you there?

Inside every governmental open source project live two wolves. One writes code, the other writes policy. Both are doing their honest best, and it still keeps going wrong, from Nixpkgs to Gaia-X. Why is it so hard to get the two to work together? Let use the recent trouble at Nixpkgs to learn, and foster understanding why governement and governance cultures colide.
