What to do with my dress? Plz retoot for more opinions.
I have sewn a dress that I don't want to wear any longer.
I could dye it, with the risk of still not liking it.
I could give it away, but its very custom shaped and also has some flaws, so I am shy about it. How would I approach it? It has pockets though so thats a plus.
Or I could disassemble and reuse it, but I already have so much fabric, I would probably not use it for a long time. #sewing

The dress in question. It looks good in the picture, but I just don't wear it and when I do, I don't like it much.

@dec_hl Its both. The shape is a bit unflattering which might go away if I dye it a darker color. But I still might not like it. Also, the thread will not take the color.

@JohannaMakesGames@mastodon.gamedev.place Try & dye. Fastest and cheapest way to find out if you want to get rid of it. Maybe some marine blue or dark cyan?

@daswarkeinhuhn If I dye it, I would go gradually darker, and black is always an option. Most of my wardrobe is black anyways 😝
Once dyed, it might not be suitable to give away though, because the thread will not take the color and stay baby blue

@JohannaMakesGames You could try one of the Rit dyes that are for synthetics, my understanding is that it would dye cotton, too. If you're in Europe I'm not sure how widely they are available, I've only seen them in one of the stores in my city! (In Finland)

My answer depends on the flaws, but if they're only minor then I think someone else would love that. A lot of commercially-made clothing has flaws too!

@unchartedworlds its a collection of small flaws like the seams not being perfect, the shirring starts to wear out and top and skirt being slightly differently shaded. I think I would send the interested person pictures so they know what to expect.
