Making socks for my stepfather in the most boring yarn available so he might actually wear them. If allover cables aren’t too extravagant… (It’s not his fault, he’s from Noord-Holland province)

Monster blanket finally done. Took me nearly 2 years to complete it.

It is SOOOOO huge. Super king-sized. You could hide a whole family under this. This was for my daughter. Now working on one for my son. That one will be a mosaic crochet pattern. I am just a bit tired of tapestry crochet.

Me: “You can go through my sock yarn stash upstairs and pick anything you like?”
My mother in law: “I want very thick black slipper socks with white musical notes. They should be able to pull up high on the ankle. Noflik.”

Time for the fine details

The pattern calls for 4 stitch i-cord but since I only have a tool for 3 stitch and babies are famously bad at counting we will have 3 stitch i-cord

Getting cheeky

Whew. Mail from Sock Club that they won’t be shipping to Europe anymore due to all the tariffs and regulations, which I fully understand, but I do feel broken up with a bit!

Great news for the stash though.

Day 12 #spacetober_challenge is Roman Space Telescope so I made a portrait of its namesake #astronomer Nancy Grace Roman (1925-2018), NASA's 1st chief of astronomy throughout the 60s & 70s, who helped shape the space astronomy program. Nicknamed "mother of Hubble" for her role in planning the revolutionary Hubble Space Telescope, she was active in science communication & an advocate for #womenInSTEM throughout her career. 🧵1/

Great, were the humans having problems perceiving reality? Even more than the usual problems humans have perceiving reality?

We have ears!

Knitters will understand.
Knitters' other halves will also understand.

I had to do an emergency cast on and couldn’t reach my circulars from bed, so now I’m knitting on straight needles. I feel so vintage. Or like an illustration on an article about knitting by someone who doesn’t knit.

I'm finally done my sweater of mistakes!

I cast off in June, but it had several problems (body too short, neck too big, sleeve sized mismatched) so I reworked the collar, body and half a sleeve before I called it done (and was sick of working on it)

The upside is I'm very happy with it now! Perfect fall weight sweater, I love the colors and pattern, the yarn is super soft, and I'm wearing it all the time.

Sorry to have missed #wipwednesday a few times because my meds needed adjusting but I’m BACK and this week we’re very into FEET! (Small hind brain shiver over the kind of DMs this would have gotten me on the bird site. Prove you’re better, fedi.)

The “cream” in both musical socks is the same yarn. The black ran in the one I already finished. Sad. Should’ve used a colour catcher but Peer Gynt spoiled me with its colour fastness.

Starting with commercial multicolored yarn first was such a good idea. It’s easier to see what’s happening while #weaving, it’s helpful to notice the pattern the colors make in the finished band and it’s easy to see where I made mistakes. I also made a band with my homegrown cotton (2-ply) Not as flashy, but it sure is soft. Bands also make great samples before scaling up. Next I want to weave #handspun cotton singles and see what that’s like. #FiberArts #beginner
