@bms conversely (removed others so as not to jump into mentions of strangers): there's a limited amount of mental bandwidth to devote to thinking about things as a group; offloading/delegating items so that one does not have think about them anymore, and can preserve that mental capacity for other preferred/important items, is something that long predates AI.
e.g., one of the reasons I pay my kids a weekly salary to do certain chores is not because I don't want to do the work, it's because I don't want to have to think about it.
