ok this is so cool. this LED manufacturer designed maybe the coolest demo brochure possible for their COB LEDs, its a ringed binder where each of the pages is a PCB that you plug in and can control via touch to toggle which strips are on :o

The ring binder is on a single metal frame. Would need a different design.
Easier to forget to switch off.
The holes in the pages are bigger than the rings, so they may not make good contact.
All pages switched on or you need additional electronics to prevent that.
It would turn a cool thing that simply works into an error prone disappointment.
And with this, you can take an individual page and your own phone charger, and it still works.

I suspect the easier way to do this would be shallow pogo pins or the like conducting up from a powered back cover. Whichever page doesn’t have another one on top of it pressing down is the one which turns on.

The case doesn't have to be, but the the rings themselves are interconnected too.
There's probably some way around it, and then there are only so many other issues to solve.
And the thing in it's current state is already brilliant. People of every generation plug in their phones and laptops on exactly this type of plug every single day of their lives. Everybody understands this instantly. Sturdy, resilient, fool proof.

And again, even if you go with a ring mechanism which can easily be opened by the users, none of the mechanism *needs to be* metal. Not even the rings. There are some impressive thermoplastics now which can be made conductive only as needed. A spring/brush system could maintain contact between the pages and the rings if needed, or pogo pins could be used as I mentioned before.
