@swachter You say "fix", I call that an upgrade!
@swachter Love this!!
@swachter wow, so did you do this with a SpeedWeave or some sort of darning loom? It looks so good… I’m still learning!
@Dr_Bombay Nope, just did it by hand. Measured and stitched the colored stripes then wove the grey in carefully with a long needle. I have a speedweve but I don’t like the tension it puts on the fabric.
@swachter wow! That precision might be too much to ask for my old eyes, but I’d love to have that kind of skill. It looks so good!
@swachter neat!
@swachter holy crap that is gorgeous
@swachter that is so clever! Do you put the grey threads in first? I have tried darning but it puckers. Next time I'll use a ring
@Florapis No, colored threads first, then wove the grey through!
@swachter thank you! I shall try this on Stuarts jeans, he wears holes in the pockets all the time
@swachter "can't fix everything, but I can fix everything"
@swachter do you have videos of how you do it?
@swachter I have a cute pair of socks that I’ve stopped wearing because they have holes, and I aspire to fix them.
@swachter The bag is better after the tear. “More For Your Dollar” was the promise. The new one is stranger: more meaning for your refusal to discard. Quite valuable, this little tear.
Nice work!
I have some bags I need to repair, too. Do you recommend for/against any particular materials?
(I'm not used to working with the plastic quasi-fabrics that re-usable shopping bags are mostly made of.)
@swachter oh hey that's fantastic handiwork, congrats! :o
