Oct 31, 2026, 3:30 AMFor the record I think that with about 24 hours of Cybersecurity Awareness Month left, at this point I'm sufficiently aware of cybersecurity.
I don't think any additional cybersecurity awareness is necessary. This is plenty, you know? More than plenty. Enough, I would say. I get it. Awareness confirmed. Ample awareness. We're good.
Oct 31, 2026, 3:42 AMSo uh apparently the list of things we need to be Aware of in November is:
- Lung cancer
- Stomach cancer
- Pancreatic cancer
- Pulmonary hypertension
- Alzheimers'
- COPD
- Epilepsy, and
- Manatee
and if any of those are going to go as hard as cybersecurity has gone this month can we all agree to pick manatee? I don't know how the monkey's paw is going to curl on this one but please just be manatees. I'll be aware of manatees every damn day. I'll be happy to do it.

Aye, we're all good, but those folks who have the most to lose from cybersecurity unawareness sure seems to be dropping some very large balls many times a day.

@mhoye Just a reminder that this coming month is also November Awareness Month. Be aware that there is a November going on, somewhere in the world, all month.
@mhoye 👆🏻this is an all-time great toot. No notes.👏
@Kierkegaanks @mhoye of all the bizarre & random things you post…
@mhoye @mildpeach beige.party at your service!

@mhoye
What color ribbon is that?
@mhoye the pact is sealed
@mhoye 4.
(Too soon?)
@mhoye cybersecurity is like health: if you're thinking about it much, either you're a professional or you have a problem, and neither situation is enviable.
@mhoye Maybe we can put some awareness back?
Oct 31, 2026, 3:35 PM@janxdevil there’s not enough alcohol in the world.
Nov 1, 2026, 12:22 AM@mhoye My "last 24 hours of CAM" moment was realizing just this afternoon¹ that plenty of people run VSCode + Claude on our login and compute servers. Some hasty checking ensued, and at least there are no obvious signs of compromised accounts.
¹ it was actually casually reading a @gnomon post about it that made some neurons suddenly connect in my head.
