@dansup Hi Dan. How can I submit https://github.com/vrypan/listnr to the list?
Listnr is a very good idea!
Suggestion: Instead of having each site host a separate instance of listnr, how about publicly hosted listnr servers, where any website owner can register their website? The listnr server will poll registered websites and broadcast updates over ActivityPub. Content changes can be detected using HTTP mechanisms, or by storing a cryptographic message digest of each registered web page.
Of course. It’s good to keep the technology simple.
Maybe someone could build on top of it though, using listnr as a component, in a server that supports the rest of the functionality.
Then bloggers would have a choice between installing a self-hosted, single instance of listnr, or using an externally hosted, public listnr-server, where they could just register their blog’s URL.
The listnr-server would be a wrapper around listnr, and handle the functions of polling registered URLs, and handing the new content over to listnr, for broadcast to the Fediverse over ActivityPub.
Thoughts?
@dansup
Thank you :)
@dansup I’m on mobile and there seem to be some issues on the site (/apps)
The text doesn’t fit on my screen and there seems to be a large scroll buffer for the empty search results
@dansup @coalminecrow I can't open it. My phone and my desktop flags it unsafe and it won't let me proceed.
@dansup wow, now I would try all fediverse
@dansup It's pretty obvious you've put a lot of hard work and thought into it. Easy to understand immediately. With fewer calories and better taste too!
@dansup looks cool! I also learned about peertube while scrolling around and just installed it. Thanks for sharing.
@dansup Are you adding more servers ?
@dansup love it
@dansup @mellifluousbox Fantastic work on the opt-in! Thank you for building this! :blobheartcat:
Needs a T-shirt with a QR Code. /s
@dansup sadly, does not work without javascript
@dansup very cool! Through the performance of the animation is terrible on my permacomputing style phone.
Is there a way to contribute a translation?
@dansup looks good. One thing I have to mention though, is the blue text on a dark blue background - it's not enough contrast and makes it quite inaccessible
I'm a simple man. I see @dansup ask for a boost and I boost it
Wonderful website, @dansup !!!
I will use this resource a lot to jailbreak people from corporate walled gardens and bring them over to the Fediverse.
Suggestions:
1. Looking at this website, through the eyes of someone who has only ever experienced FaceBook, or YouTube, it's not immediately clear what Mastodon and PeerTube are, and that they are Free Alternatives.
Perhaps you should consider adding parentheses to clarify which part of the closed source world, each Fediverse service replaces. Such as: PeerTube ( Video ), PixelFed ( Photos ), etc.
2. Maybe there should be a registry database, where for example, users leaving FaceBook can add their facebook handle, and their Fedi handle.
So friends can find each other in the new world, using a directory.
Even better would be a way for each ex-facebook user to be automatically connected to each of their former facebook contacts, as soon as they join the Fediverse.
Keep up the good work. Here's to an Exodus to the Free World! :pride_corgi:
@dansup do you mind if I ask - is this vibe-coded?
Apologies for the implication if it's not. I just wondered because it has a visual style that I tend to associate with vibe-coded websites. But I'm not sure if those design elements are always an accurate signal of LLM involvement (maybe it's just a popular style), so I'm always curious when I see a new site that looks like this
@dansup The style, tone and structure makes this website feel like a corporate landing page and as you want to sell something. Making clear in your first headline that this is free and open source will help newbies a lot to understand that this is not a a corporate website.
@dansup thanks for this page!
would it make sense to have this page multilingual?
I could imagine people could use it more successfully in their region.
I mean, it would make sense. But are there plans?
