Tl;DR

Stick the swab up.you nostril, ~2cm
Rub and rotate
Repeats with the other nostril
Place the swab in the tube and rotate it (~10 times)
Break it of and close the tube
Shake it and wait a bit (1 minute)

Put two drops in each test entrance (marked with S)

Wait a bit
C (control) should always show a line
If T (or A B) show a line, you tested positive

After 20 minutes the test is no longer valid

The staff engineer on my team has an all too common belief that you want alerts that tell you to "look at stuff when you have time"

When has anyone in tech in the last 15 years ever had a spare second to look at some random alert that fires 80 times a week? Absolutely never. The only correct solution is to tune every alert to make it immediately actionable when it fires - ie only you, the human, can do non trivial steps to remediate.

Also people fundamentally do not understand any part of detection. They don't know why they're detecting, what they're looking for, nor how to do it.

And I've tried for years to explain that more is worse and nobody listens, so I stopped trying.

Still gonna write my book as a vanity project someday.

Clear, enthusiastic, ongoing consent is both sexy and vital.

I fear that there will be some *dreadful* takes on consent (elsewhere) following Brand's conviction.

@neil Honestly, though. A lot of rape culture is the support that men expect to have when they violate consent, and if they can't expect that from strangers or buddies, that culture starts to shred apart at its seams.

Dass sehr viele Menschen in den USA auf die Straße gegangen sind gegen den widerwärtigen Rassismus und die Plünderung der Sozialkassen, dass sie sich vor ihre Nachbar:innen, Kolleg:innen und sogar vor Wildfremde gestellt haben, wenn vermummte, paramilitärische Truppen ihre Deportationsorgien zelebriert haben, dass sie über sich hinausgewachsen sind, wenn sie Mitglieder der Gemeinschaft versteckt, oder zuhause mit dem Nötigsten versorgt haben .. all das kam in der Berichterstattung nicht vor.

Auf gar keinen Fall darf der Eindruck entstehen, dass mündige Bürger:innen in nennenswerter Zahl ihren Wertekompass überprüft und Verantwortung für ihre Demokratie übernommen haben, denn das könnte hierzulande womöglich Erschütterungen auslösen und die Leute vom politisch und medial vorgezeichneten, für die Einpeitscher:innen äußerst lukrativen, rrrächten Weg abbringen.
