Important reporting on the working conditions of the people building all those data centers. Sure, capitalism, it's exploitative, but the degree of neglect of safety standards and human rights is staggering.

@tante really well-done investigation. the subcontractor visualization was fascinating to me. i was disgusted by how microsoft was the single one whose spokesperson did the research to sound genuine while generally exhibiting the absolute most awful contempt off the record. they are quite familiar with how to handle government regulators who are spread thin by the liberal state's politics of austerity. i am reminded of how the circuit court judge in US v. Microsoft (2001) allegedly referred to microsoft as "worse than imperial japan" at one point
@tante This is also within existing DCs super common, the concept of worksafety is super lacking in practially all DCs I have seen/worked at.
Improper hearing protection, toxic chemicals with no proper venting, exeeding lifting requirements or exposure limits to dry or humid or hot air etc.
Tbh scare how lacks a lot of the iT sectors deal with it all.
