This should immediately end any consideration, they should be fined per tree, and barred from all construction for 5 years.

This should immediately end any consideration, they should be fined per tree, and barred from all construction for 5 years.
And individuals involved in the decision making should be criminally prosecuted.
@petrillic and the shareholders… personally liable
@petrillic I truly can't believe Finland approved this. I mean they broke the rules too but still
edit: bonus points for the person using the term razed
@petrillic Company should be barred from doing any business in the country. Google links should just end in a redirect.
@petrillic if corporations are people then there needs to be jail (probably super severe fines like multiples of yearly revenue) and possibly the death penalty for corporations.
@bigolewannabe @petrillic
Now there's a death penalty we can all get behind!
@bigolewannabe @petrillic 1 day for every shareholder?
@petrillic 🗣TREE LAW!!!!!
@petrillic this is fuckin' techno-colonialism on first world countries. What are they doing everywhere else?!!
@petrillic But it will not.
When you have money the law doesn't really apply to you, not to the extent it would apply to us peasants.
Bar them until the forest in question has grown back.
@petrillic Make them restore what they destroyed at their own expense. They also have to preserve the area for the next decade; again on their own dime. The whole thing is constantly monitored by government workers, whose cost is, you guessed it, covered by them. Put a single toe out of line and people go to jail, plus a fine that will absolutely bankrupt them
the roots of my disgust for this company deepen..... the lengths I would go to, lengthen....
@petrillic @cdarwin rapine cunts, one and all.
@petrillic The vast sense of power and self entitlement that comes almost invariably from huge wealth is also invariably pathologically indifferent to the concerns of others or the planet.
There should be constraints BY DEFAULT on any business growing above a certain threshold.
@petrillic I DO NOT UNDERSTAND 🤯 not ine single human on this planet needs data centres 😳
@petrillic exactly!
@petrillic Prison would be better, one year per tree.
They should be ordered to replant the same volume of trees cleared. Not the same amount. Same Volume.
@petrillic 1 cent for the first tree, doubling at each tree destroyed. You know where that's going :-)
@petrillic @PapyrusBrigade @cdarwin …or until the trees grow back and the forest is restored.
Military occupation of the land, seize eveything, every last contractor and sub. All gear forfeited. A lesson for next time.
These fucking corporations need to be put under control.
@petrillic I'm just surprised they're not clearing it for pickleball courts.
@petrillic It seems to me the old "Do no evil" mantra has been replaced with "Do evil".
@petrillic So who owned the forest? Did Google lawfully come into possession of the forest? Was the previous owner fairly paid? If the answer is yes than Google should be able to do what they want with their own property.
They don't have enough transformers for datacenters. (and other technical stuff)
Even if they would have, they don't have enough electricity for all the GPUs.
When the bubble burst, we will be left with devastated planet(that's not that great to start with even now), lot of empty datacenters and cheap GPUs.🤬
@petrillic well technically it was the *contractor* who jumped the gun, not *Google*... (/s)
@asterisk we really need to change our legal framework so that the contracting organization is fully responsible for activities of the contractor. It’s been used as a “oops not my fault” bullshit excuse for no oversight for too long.
