are refried beans in a can fairly unique to north america? I am guessing for example they aren't common in Poland.
Maybe unique is the wrong term?

cool cool cool just got blocked by someone because I replied instead of quoting. Ironically probably viewed as an AI booster or similar.
Oh well
I don't care if the homeless person we house or the refugee person we welcome is a "good investment".
Humanity is not a business.
I just want as many HUMAN BEINGS to be warm, happy, safe and healthy as possible.
Wrap that up in whatever political affilliation you care too, it's how we should all feel.
Geeze, what is wrong with us??

this really seems like an ideal bike. It would be fully adequate for trail riding here. Full suspension is nice and all but I cbf to own such a god damn fussy contraption.
I need a steel frame bike that thrives on neglect.
also as happy as I have been with debian on my laptop part of me wants to try getting netbsd or similar running on it.
under 80f that means it is hoodie time here in satan's taint
Also a fully gray day of drizzly rain makes me so damn homesick. Looking at the weather report for astoria it has started into the 30-50f and perpetually damp and gray time of year. Seems strange to miss and want that yet here I am feeling that way.
I love this. This developer is small, I think a 3 person studio. Their deeply silly game how many dudes was well received and launched in I think august or so, they said they released a few fixes and then said they were working on 1.1. Beta is launching today. They're very active on their discord (yeah. It is a game and that is what everyone unfortunately uses) and are excited to get it in front of players to collect feedback. In fact they already reverted a change none of us have got to play with that was universally scoffed at (economy change).
Anyway if you want to check out a fun auto battler this game is worth the price. Beta notes below too.
To the first, I say: Fine, I don't want to go where that bandwagon is headed.
"Left behind" is an interesting phrase, it indexes a notion of a race towards a desirable/shining "future" that only some can access, and which we should all hope to participate in.
But the TESCREAList/tech bro future is not one I want any part in and in fact one that I actively resist --- and I hope others will too.

logged into fidelity to see what the 401k is doing. That coupled with my own managed investments it boldly predicts I can retire in 2037.
I highly, highly doubt that I will be able to retire in 10-11 years. The market will crash out before that and I don't see healthcare getting anymore affordable in that timeframe.
maybe some day we will exit the orbit of spawning things in minecraft until the server or client crashes. Maybe not.

DECing Out the Homelab with an AlphaServer 2100
Retrocomputer enthusiasts have a bad rap as nerds who just want to play old video games. There’s some truth in this, but the reality is that we’re nerds who want …read more

I kinda need to get sell all my bikes but my cargo bike and get a pinion gearbox and belt drive bike with a front fork.
Those things require such little maintenance
Hello 👋 I'm from a tiny test instance.
Can you help yeet me across the fediverse?
it is lovely to see vibe coded alternatives to photoshop and the like. One thing folks aren't considering is the stranglehold these companies have are on other companies. That is the bread and butter. The held companies buy licensed software as a solution to a problem. So using a piece of software that is unsupported isn't a solution. It is a tool that would have to be supported.
Otoh other alternatives for individuals and smaller companies is great!

I know this isn't new but it is new to me and pretty dang cool
parenting hack: tell your children you can play minecraft outside. Give them tools to do stuff with and play along as you do landscaping and yard chores.
I mean giving my 6yo a an actual pick axe to mine (hit stuff with) and the instruction of "if it hits your toes it will chop them off" would provably get me jailed if the social media moms knew I was doing that, but he still has 10 toes.
ayyyyy we got some of that hurricane rain!

one simple joy was getting a package in the mail. Even that has managed to be perverted into an everyday thing gosh dang it
