The dialogue is a little cringe-making, unsurprisingly, but spelling Stirling as Sterling is an egregious error that would have been easy to put right if anyone had even bothered to check. This is not the first time I've struggled with a story by a highly regarded writer from over there that was set in Scotland but read nothing like it. Just gonna no, eh?
Trapped on the sofa by the enormous hole in my ankle, and seriously grumpy about it (will seek professional medical help tomorrow), so am reading Langan's Corpsemouth. I love Langan, but for the love of all that's (un)holy, if you are a writer from the North American continent, and you write something set in Scotland, FFS get someone actually Scottish to check it for verisimilitude.
