The inscription on this monument built by the Ancients was damaged, but we were still able to translate it. Looks like we will find many valuable relics and treasure if we dig here!
Jun 30, 2026, 6:59 PM@PavelASamsonov you are absolutely right!
@PavelASamsonov looks like it was some kind of a... priesthood?
Oh no ..... ☢️ 😵
Certainly an important problem regarding the long term preservation of information
@PavelASamsonov "##### is present in your time as it was in ours"
Oh sick! They specifically built whatever it was to be equally useful to us!
@ryanprior @PavelASamsonov "theXXXX is present in your time" 🎁
@PavelASamsonov Surely it will be very valuable. They protected it with spiky structures and landscape.
@PavelASamsonov I get the joke, but anybody capable of digging that deep will be able to protect themselves. Dangerous radiation, has, just about by definition, a short half life.
@jrootham @PavelASamsonov sort of, I'm not a nuclear physicist but I am a uranium chemist who got training in this if you'd like me to nerd out
@Canageek @PavelASamsonov Go for it.
@jrootham @PavelASamsonov So it depends on how much you have and it's really non-intuitive how long it will linger. So all of your really short stuff like I131 will go away quickly, but even something with a relatively short half-life like Cs137 could be dangerous for centuries if you have enough of it.
Now couple this with history is a lot shorter than most people think: 10 half lives of cesium-137 ago and the US hasn't been founded yet
@jrootham @PavelASamsonov So you have stuff that is spicy enough to cause a lot of problems, they could very easily still be heinously dangerous 100 years after a societal collapse.
Plus in previous technological regressions, it's been very uneven. You actually had a lot of metal working and agricultural advances during the collapse of the Roman Empire, but large-scale understanding of construction techniques was lost.
@jrootham @PavelASamsonov So it would entirely be plausible that knowledge of nuclear physics was lost, because it's not relevant to day-to-day life, whereas mining techniques stay the same or advance, because they're needed and used on a day-to-day basis
@jrootham Thanks for letting me know
@PavelASamsonov By the time that becomes an issue, the issue will have decayed to a triviality.
Also, lol, future people trap.
@PavelASamsonov That would fit right in on some doors at work...
Jun 30, 2026, 10:02 PM@PavelASamsonov I could tell it's a place of honor by the number of coins I found buried nearby!

Jul 1, 2026, 12:28 AM@PavelASamsonov hmm, the more I dig the more I seem to taste metal for some reason, weird!
@PavelASamsonov If God didn’t want us to have this holy land, He would not have cursed our enemies with plagues and death during their occupation.
To honor Him and His gifts, we shall have the top priests, monarchy, all those with power and authority, and especially their children, ritualistically bathe in the glowing sands and drink sweetwater from beautifully glazed cups. Surely then He will bless our future.
@PavelASamsonov @WhiteCatTamer The rocks are so spicy!
Jul 1, 2026, 8:32 AM@PavelASamsonov "the danger is present--"? I love presents!
@PavelASamsonov Sure, but part of the concept is to have many copies of those messages to increase the chance of the whole message being found.
@Fissile thanks for letting me know
@PavelASamsonov
There is one skeptic in the group: "Do you even have any ideas what the missing words might be?"
"Oh yeah, we're pretty sure we got it!"
this place is SUCH
a place of honor
MANY highly esteemed deed
ARE commemorated here
Oh, they got this all screwed up.
This place is not a place of honor? No! highly esteemed deed is commemorated here!
@BigHeadMode @PavelASamsonov The Lionel Hutz School of Nuclear Engineering
Oct 18, 2026, 3:50 AM@PavelASamsonov It's almost like that's why the passage was meant to EVOKE A FEELING that would be conveyed through visual semiotics, and not A LITERAL TEXT intended to be printed anywhere.
@tael No fucking way, this is the first time I'm hearing about this! Certainly the first reply to this post to tell me so! Incredible. Massive amounts of egg, on my face.
