Oct 18, 2026, 8:10 AM@onepict thank you Esther! I really appreciate your encouragement because I'm on the receiving end of so much bullying by W Social MEGA fans, ouf. Reporting on this topic is not for the faint of heart 🥲

Oct 18, 2026, 8:14 AM@_elena I think you've got an article series on your hands.
Plus the fact that minor accounts were created and the accounts are still up there is alarming.
- Oct 18, 2026, 8:16 AM
@onepict I've already published 6 articles about them and I'm feeling super guilty this clown show is taking time away from me promoting the Fediverse: https://blog.elenarossini.com/tag/w-social/
But no one in mainstream media is covering W in a fair way... therefore I persist 🥲

@_elena It is a shame for the fediverse, but by covering the corruption and incompetence by W you're helping the folks and their groups on the fediverse and beyond.
This is a massive threat to their users privacy and the EU is complicit in it's promotion of W.
Questions need to be asked of both.
The fact that the W fanboys are bullying tells us you are having an impact.
We can point at your series, it's asking serious questions that W can't or won't answer.

@onepict thank you Esther 🥲
I've been really disturbed by how a bunch of corporates launched their open social network in DAVOS, tried to hide the source code came from Bluesky, then quietly went closed-source à la Truth Social and now they are cozying up to the European Commission with identity verification. OVER MY DEAD BODY.
Plus they keep messing up in ways big and small

@ophiocephalic THANK YOU 🥹
If you knew how much I've been struggling to get mainstream media to report about W's mishaps. I even served up big scoops on a silver platter to several journalists... only to hear that they needed more info or that it was too niche.

Evilham :antifa:evilham@unchat.catOct 18, 2026, 9:21 AM"Too niche". The audacity! It's the frigging president of the EU Commission endorsing it :breadunhappy:
Again, thank you for doing the reporting @_elena!

Edgar Walthert :NoWar:eWalthert@typo.socialOct 18, 2026, 9:26 AM@_elena @veronicavd @onepict Thanks for your persistence!
Already completely forgot about this joke. It’s hard to keep track of everything trying to compete with Mastodon.
Wo is behind https://mu.social ?
Next week @waag launches https://oso.social (both in collaboration with Eurosky on the AT protocol)- Oct 18, 2026, 9:32 AM
@eWalthert Eurosky is behind Mu! and I didn't know about oso.social, sounds AMAZING!
- Edgar Walthert :NoWar:eWalthert@typo.socialOct 18, 2026, 10:03 AM
@_elena @veronicavd @onepict @waag And mu.social is supposed to better appeal to the young folks than eruosky.social?
Or rather the young at heart? (I’m reading Proper Cringe, Meme’s and Cat GIFs) 😳
Jorge Luis ⁂jorge@saturno.redOct 18, 2026, 10:15 AM@_elena @eWalthert @onepict @waag it is amazing what Eurosky has achieved in a short time and how how serious the project is - unlike W Social, which is a shame to the community.

Die™ar🌈lectrodan@mastodon.socialOct 18, 2026, 8:33 AM- Oct 18, 2026, 8:45 AM
@lectrodan the kind of people who buy "Make Europe Great Again" hats 🫠
- Die™ar🌈lectrodan@mastodon.socialOct 18, 2026, 8:51 AM
@_elena I have never seen them, or heard anything about them, untill now. I have to consider myself very lucky, I guess. Never knew that was al thing.
- Die™ar🌈lectrodan@mastodon.socialOct 18, 2026, 8:57 AM
@_elena just checked if you weren't joking. To my surprise these hats actually exist. 😱😱😱
- Oct 18, 2026, 9:05 AM
@lectrodan yeah and the site selling them used to carry Agartha merch (scroll all the way down to the last paragraph for a disturbing explanation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agartha)
- Die™ar🌈lectrodan@mastodon.socialOct 18, 2026, 9:15 AM
@_elena this hollow earth belief is the definition of a rabbit hole. 😉
I have read about it in the past. Like 25 years ago. So people actually still buy this rubbish and believe in this crap? It's almost too funny to be true. 🫣
- Oct 18, 2026, 9:06 AM
@lectrodan lucky you and please DO NOT go down their rabbit hole. If we're lucky they won't be around come 2028
Doministikun 🐌Doministikun@ohai.socialOct 18, 2026, 9:20 AM@lectrodan @_elena I've discovered it right now too, I'm out of words. But now I understand the name of a .social account that I blocked yesterday, which was named exaclty like that...
