Obviously that was not the answer they were expecting 🙈
What radicalized me, politically, in my life? Hm. 🤔 It was probably watching, as a kid, my mother single-handedly take on City Hall *and win*. You fight for what is right.

I live in a largely immigrant neighborhood. Lately I’ve been doing some community work that involves signal groups and whistles and meeting in church basements—and also getting vetted. During a recent one-on-one an organizer asked me what had radicalized me and unthinkingly I blurted, “Monotype buying FontShop.”
I am still in the environment that made me want to drink in the first place but the clarity and relief I feel are unreal. It’s been 2y that I have been drifting away to having a real addiction and the fact that it’s IMPOSSIBLE to force the decision to not want to drink anymore, but I took it, is just… idk maybe too heavy of a convo for here but everything about this habit is linked to shame and secrecy and I don’t want to be ashamed anymore
One week ago I took a decision that’s already changing my life. I actually told myself that for once I would not share it right away, but it’s been a week and nothing will make me change my mind, so fuck it. I need to share this. It’s important to me. I basically suddenly realised my alcohol consumption was getting insanely alarmingly out of control. Like, really out of control. So I’m taking a year long break. I’ve struggled with addictions forever and I know for a fact, before I did it before successfully, that if I decided that I will abstain I will. The problem is taking the decision. And I am done. I am sorry if my behaviour is erratic lately, I’m still finding my footing without poison in my system, but I am done
The thing that scares me probably the most ever is true crime (and sharks but it’s less rational) and I’ve been so deprived of stimulation lately that my brain just craves court hearing videos. Usually I reserve this for when I’m extremely sick and can’t think at all so I’m really concerned. I’ve fell asleep to that at 2am tonight and been watching Orange is the New Black clips again. I am 200% having nightmares this show is like kryptonite crack for me I need to have fun I need something that’s not pushing black shapes closer

Revisiting @nicksherman’s visit to Peru from last year. What a trip it must’ve been.
I mean, just look at the aerodynamics on this Piaggio taxicab!

With ::before and ::after on <img>, you could easily expose alt text on hover or focus (with tabindex), add overlays to create a duotone effect without SVG filters, or make an image span up to 3 CSS columns.
I get why we don’t have ::before and ::after on <img>, but it would be so useful sometimes.
Kyrylo Tkachov from Alfabravo shared a work in progress—an Ukrainian Cyrillic cursive project that feels especially interesting for the way it engages local traditions, historical references, and alternative graphic logics, rather than defaulting to so-called 'standard' Cyrillic italics. Curious to see where this goes with Latin and Greek characters.🤔

I don’t go into Facebook often, but when I do, I’m flooded with fake AI generated stories about Gamecock Women’s Basketball and F1. Judging from the engagement on these posts, lots of people believe them… but most of them are completely made up.
I need to digest this a bit now.
