    Please don’t be a Gate keeper in your hobby. For example: my sons started playing #warhammer. But warhammer age of Sigmar. They went to a comicstore where you can come together and paint your figures. But older WH players made joke about that „stupid new wh world“ in front of them for weeks. and now my sons stopped going there and lost some of the joy to play it.

    For what, I ask? Why? You don’t like something? Okay. But other people like other stuff. Damn.

    @LeanderZeichnet That's so sad. I'm sorry for your son. I hate it when people do this.

    Someone once came to a Critical Mass (bicycle group ride) with his new bike. He was so happy with it, but then an older guy started criticizing him, because this component would have been better, that configuration had this and that problem, and so on. I could see the joy vanishing from his eyes.

    @HerrKlamauk @LeanderZeichnet this is a great way to make grad students pick another project, when they work super hard to do something and then you immediately criticize it and demand new features. Great way to get staff members to stop helping you too...

    People just do this for some reason your whole life 😑.

    @LeanderZeichnet this is so uselessly stupid because not only are you ruining someone else's day but also are you limiting the amount of people that come and play your games with you.

    The correct way of going about this should have been... Ha! Good kids, come on, let's play a game and let us tell you all about painting this stuff. And if you like it, maybe we'll teach you a game you might even like more, because it's a game we've played since we were filthy unwashed teens.

    Idiots

    @LeanderZeichnet Oooh this makes my blood boil. It makes me so angry when people want to spoil others' fun. It's great when kids have an interest in something and I can't understand anybody sneering when they could encourage the children and make them feel part of the community. This has happened to mine now and then and I always tell them it says nothing about them and everything about the other person. I hope your kids can rediscover their joy in the game.

    @LeanderZeichnet picking on other kids for which set of dolls they like to play with (it was WH40K for me) - it's petty, pointless, mean, insecure... and it's been going on for generations. sigh

    @LeanderZeichnet

    As if hobbyists don't get enough grief from outside the activity for participating.

    Sad to hear of this experience your kids had, from a chess player who has felt it and seen it happen.

    @LeanderZeichnet people who actually care about their hobby continuing to exist and thrive don’t do this kind of crap. Especially not to younger folks. Bummed out for your kiddos that they experienced this.

    @Thebratdragon @LeanderZeichnet

    I think the problem is that it destroyed and replaced a beloved TT game and world.

    Still no excuse to bully/shame new players but for long time Warhammer fans/players it's definitely a bone of contention.

    @LeanderZeichnet not only is that obnoxious, but Warhammer fantasy predates Warhammer 40K by a long way, so it's ignorant as well.

    I must say, our experience is that the staff in Warhammer shops are unfailingly welcoming; I'm sure they're coached in it.
