The Moray coast and #Aberdeenshire are not the most visited parts of #Scotland, but I am just back from #cycling Route EV1 from Inverness to Aberdeen. The route was delightful, encompassing moorland and forest from Inverness to Nairn, fishing villages/towns on the Moray coast, and fertile farmlands in Aberdeenshire. Ups & downs but not too hilly. Highly recommended. #biketoot

@geomannie What's the deal with crossing the Spey at Spey Bay now? I heard the old railway bridge over it had collapsed or at least been shut?
@MrPDaniel The Spey Bay crossing is still closed & likely to be closed for years. The contract for clearing the fallen spans has still not been awarded, let alone any contract for reinstatement. We got as close as we dared.
Oh, wow, I didn't know about this! I was walking over that a couple of years ago. How sad :(
@geomannie Aw that's a shame. I've walked over the bridge a few times, and it was feeling spicier as the years passed! Such a pity we can't afford to maintain infrastructure like this. I guess you have to cross the river on the A96 at Fochabers now.
@MrPDaniel Just so. The diversion puts about 4 miles onto the EV1 route so while the bridge being out is a pile of poo, the extra distance isn't too far.
