    Your computer at work, which has twice as much memory and CPU through put as the one you had 10 years ago is still slow and frustrating because every program is bloated with "apps" to open and edit every other type of file.

    No, I do not want to open my Excel spreadsheet in Outlook, or Teams, or my company's preferred browser, or my other browser I like better. I want it to open in GOD DAMN EXCEL!!

    So much redundancy and slow loading because of it.

    Do the one thing well.

    I love installing old software on new hardware. It flies! Office 2016 is INCREDIBLE and does everything 365 does, but without AI, OneDrive nagging, or hallucinated words in spell check.

    I regularly code in Visual Studio 6 (circa 1998) and the exes it compiles are blazingly fast. Even if they're 32-bit. There are no limits, nothing I can't do with VS6 that requires modern tools.

    @Urban_Hermit Ugh. Too right. I'm blessed to have a very accommodating workplace where they let me uninstall Microcrap and Adoodoo and others and install Libreoffice and and old version of Foxit and a bunch of tools to help cut down on that shit.

    Went to use another PC in the office, just to help them get connected to a printer (I know how to set up a printer and am therefore the office guru) and their PC was SOOOO slow. Same model as mine, bought at the same time!

    @Urban_Hermit You are aware of “Gates’ corrollary to Moore’s law”? Software will get slower by a factor of two every eightteen months?
