@woozle There are quite a few results here and some appear to be what you're describing: https://noai.duckduckgo.com/?q=%22neurodivulgent%22&norw=1&t=h_&ia=web
@oddhack Huh! That is definitely a lot more resultification than I got. Maybe I missspellled it?
[does search again...]
Oh. OH. OMFG with facepalm.
The helpful AI was assuming I misspelled "neurodivergent", and ONLY gave me results for THAT.
May I observe, once again: OMFG. :blobcatupsidedown:
(Dear search companies: DO NOT DO THIS. I expect it to be fixed by tomorrow morning. Thank you.)
@woozle generally I see search engines put a tiny link for "Results for {what I think you misspelled}. Show only results for {what you actually spelled}" somewhere near the top.
@oddhack I guess it makes me old that I'm not used to that... ghhhgg.
[still remembers when "quotes" meant "this phrase exactly", a +plus meant "must contain this word or phrase", and a -minus meant "must not contain this word or phrase]
@woozle I'd love to have regexp search in browsers, but at this point I'd settle for just a case-sensitive search option. El sigh.
@oddhack Time for me to re-investigate the state of YaCy... 🔎
@woozle @oddhack I remember when it was enough to just “-[site.address]” to get rid of results from sites you had no interest in clogging up your search, but now with LLM output masquerading as real stuff, it’s just filled to the brim with bullshit.
I hate being the kinda person who runs to social media to find out previously-easily googleable stuff because I’m no longer sure of sites that I haven’t used before and/or have not recently been endorsed by a human.
@woozle That syntax generally still works on DuckDuckGo and Google. I use site:example.com quite a bit too.
...except they don't make anything from any of us here at Hypertwin Manor because UBlock Origin is a thing.
(for some reason my reply is now detached from the post it followed up from, so for the record, the thread was/is about search engines and AI.)
I didn't expect "my" caps to be taken as Death's words, but hey... Death has been known to at least not dismiss Hex as a thing entirely, and even go so far as leveraging on Hex's capability to believe, but then Hex is not our sort of AI. Also, I suspect Death would talk to "our" AIs--only to lead them to self-annihilation.
I tend to reserve my ire for the moneylickers who decide things like "it's better if the user has to click more to get what they want because then we get more ad revenue".
@woozle @holdenweb I'm focusing my ire on the Chrome devs who decided to destroy my muscle memory by adding a new "Open link in split view" menu item exactly where "Open link in new window" used to be, while providing no way to disable this new behavior. Why would anyone care what the users think about their UI? Not even Apple cares about that, any more.
@holdenweb @woozle I don't think so. They changed the popup menu so the second menu entry is now the new split window open rather than 'open in new window' which is now third. Supposedly there was an option to disable the split window behavior until a recent update.
@woozle DuckDuckGo as a verb is pure gold
It is Forbidden Word. Agents are on their way to your house now to cleanse your memory.
@Phosphenes Yay, shiny-clean brain! 🧠 🧼 🧽 ✨
@woozle and as the delighted recipient of this from my ND friends, I can say "I neuroindulged in this infodump"

@Mimesatwork @woozle Taking one for the fedi-team by sharing.
Nice.
(This is genuine, not sarcastic. I use tumblr, but I don't understand it!)
@woozle @cloudthethings Haha, excellent! 😄
@woozle
Yay, hello great new word!
@woozle Fabulous for the neologism /and/ for DuckDuckWent, one of my favorite words :)

Also, "DuckDuckWent" - that's new to me, and I like it!
@woozle perfect
@woozle Ossome! I'm filing that with Neurodetergent – the no-perfume/no-'softener' type (not my coinage; was someone here on the fedi).
@isocat I think I remember seeing that one ^.^
@woozle I love EVERYTHING IN THIS TOOT.
@woozle neuromaximum!
