The United States already treats #ICE immigration detention centers as prisons, so it goes without saying, they too function as concentration camps:

have not forgotten about how fascist Republicans & Democrats manufactured the Haitian refugee crisis, which was Bill Barr’s claim to fame for wanting to turn Guantanamo into a concentration camp.
this created another conflict with the Cuban government, of international proportions, that didn’t end until the Clinton administration was forced to close it down:

and just so we are clear: #Guantanamo wasn’t the final destination for the Haitian concentration camps.
one of them was #PuertoRico. this was a 10 years long crisis en la Isla; so from my sophomore year in high school until 1992 Clinton:

One look at party leadership glad handing with segregationists (Biden too! Though he wasn't leadership back then), through to handjobbing Cheney in the last election to beg for racist votes. @blogdiva My Quaker grandfather and at least two of his sisters taught kids in those camps. Doing that was basically as much kindness as they were allowed to offer.

@blogdiva Recalling this inspired me to share some stories with my son. With a German grandmother and a Quaker conscientious objector grandfather, I've been conscious of this stuff so long I can't remember having learned it.
I remember being appalled at people who didn't believe the USA had ever done wrong as early as middle school at least.
