I rebooted and it went away. it's a sledgehammer of a solution, but this is a windows machine after all. it gets weird when it's been run too long, even today

I'm not sure of the details but I believe this error happened because of stale ipv6 routes and having two ISPs
my browser is doing that weird thing again where any website I've already been to works fine, but opening new websites doesn't work. So I can keep scrolling mastodon/tumblr/bluesky, but if I open a new tab and type in "reddit.com" it'll hang forever trying to contact it
I have full on lost my voice today. That's never happened to me before. Such an obvious bug, that really should have been fixed forever ago

Food finally arrived. Thankfully the show was delayed.
And despite being late it was still overcooked... Some things never change...
Vinted really needs to expand beyond clothes and shoes because eBay is a shit show and a scam pit at this point
Lesson learned, if you have less than five hours, don't try to get dinner at a Hilton hotel's restaurant
"you can't leave - you ordered food"
And you took an hour to not deliver it, and instead of saying "we cocked up - we're cooking it now but it'll be twenty minutes"
Oh there we go, there's the confession - "we never put your order through to the kitchen, it'll be fifteen minutes"
The show is in ten so...
Nice to know the Hilton experience is still consistent.
45 minutes, "hello, we ordered food 45m ago?"
"It'll be two minutes"
Ten minutes later... Nothing.
"It'll be two minutes"
I thought this was unique to the Birmingham Metropole.
I wonder if anyone would notice if one day I just disappeared?

Oh for Pete's sake. It turns out that if you just import any SVG with a fully enclosed outline into Fritzing, and ignore the warning about it not containing any silkscreen layers, it'll work fine as a PCB outline and the right shape gets exported just fine in the gerbers.
I wish I'd tried that months or years ago instead of stumbling on a tutorial and thinking I absolutely had to go through a dozen steps including tweaking layers and raw XML to get a board outline.
this is useful for - well, I turned the OSE3 leaked 16-user SNAK into an ODT key:
Serial number: 4DA019481
Activation key: osdtnxts
and an OSE unrestricted key:
Activation key: aytbegxw
huuuuh. with a few minor code changes you can make SCO Breaker generate SNAKs for SCO OSE/ODT 3. #retrocomputing #oldunix #scounix
Next step is to stress-test what I have already - more complex shapes, more curves, etc.
I also want to see how internal cutouts appear in an SVG file - Fritzing can do round holes of any size, but a square cutout or something more complex will likely require different handling.
For the moment though? I reckon I can easily set up a template PCB SVG file, create new board outlines in Rhino, export, and copy/paste details into the template faster than I can do all the fiddly Inkscape stuff.
Concluding thoughts from day 1 of messing with PCB SVGs:
It's possible to set up a pre-made SVG file containing the right metadata to be a PCB shape you can import into Fritzing, and update it by copying just the coordinates and updated dimensions into that file. It's faster than doing it from scratch every time you need to try a slightly different board shape or outline.
It can just be the board outline, you don't need the silkscreen layer.
