Andy Yen should be removed as Proton's CEO.
Each time I've had beef with something related to Proton, he's been the one driving it.

Weird, it's not recognizing the direct link as a link in my browser, but the unwall one is working 🤷🏼♀️
@alice funny how the person calling everyone else a loser turned out to be the biggest loser in the company
@alice Perhaps Andy Yen is concerned that he might be removed this time

@clayfoot I sure hope so. His political and pro-AI views have dramatically undercut my confidence in Proton, and as long as he's in a leadership position there, I'll be recommending people look elsewhere for their software needs.
Oct 30, 2026, 7:11 PM@jt_rebelo yeah. Seems like the board (and everyone else) should push for some housecleaning at Proton.

@gettie he's been there since the beginning, and has been the center of backlash several times.
Oct 30, 2026, 6:55 PM@alice I agree, but please consider this before sharing paywall removal links. Journalists need to make a living and protect their content from AI. Much of the original article is provided for free before the member-only paywall kicks in.

Oct 30, 2026, 10:04 PM@syhr as a 404 Media subscriber, I agree. Their work is the highest quality, more than worthy of support.
@alice the product is just impossible. The system will pressure it to have all kinds of backdoors and meatdata leaks. Most high profiles are just actors working for the deep state. But if you build the architecture right, no trust on the provider is needed and the users can audit the application and cloak their interactions with it by using tools such as Tor routing and crypto tumblers
@alice Not sure how i should feel about this, AI accelerates the bad and good. Mostly bad if an overprivileged engineers are working with it. I think for Protons company the risk appetite should be low compared to other companies, so it sounds like hes disconnected from his customer base.
ah well money i guess
@davincihmkay while there are *some* good uses of AI, there is no ethical usage of AI—especially under capitalism.
Any company pushing for AI adoption is pushing for enshittification of the worst kind.
@alice yeah hes already crawling back from those statements, good luck re earning trus lol
Oct 30, 2026, 7:13 PM@alice Same here, did you copy/paste the full URL with https etc?
@syhr I use things like unwall because so many news sites have started blocking my screen reader (which is a shitty user experience), but with the paywall removed (or popover blocked), I'm able to actually read the articles on my device.
I'm just going to leave the post as is, rather than edit it again and spam folx with another edit notification.
You need to add an https:// before any HTTPS link on Mastodon. The direct link does not have and https:// on the federated post. Hope this helped.
@alice the CTO is pretty full throated support of it all as well, he was the one that wrote the manifesto. Out of the town hall his main thing seemed to just be he thought Andy should have communicated better. But he’s just as AI pilled as Andy.
@alice
These fucking tech CEOs seem to think people are buying their products specifically because of them, rather than despite them. Ask Musk how that's working out for him and why Tesla sales have been trending DOWN the last few years.
@alice
> “Stop thinking always of how to be slower, and focus more on how to be faster.”
My ex-boss said something similar about a year ago 🙃.
He also complained about me doing my best to make him follow the lawe, as it was making things more slow and complicated; I wonder if Andy Yen is also unhappy about laws being followed…
@alice Seems to me like CEO's are more trouble than they're worth in more than one arena, is it that the position outgrifted it's usefulness? Have we learned any useful lessons on this?
@alice "The train is coming, get onboard or get crushed." Classic AI fanboy bullshit. And as always, they get angry when they see that nobody cares about their chatbots. 😁
I would never consider running my own internet facing server with AI coded slop, especially with other people's private mail. That tech goon wants it all to leak ☠️
