One of our cats (Sky) rearranges his toy mice every night into patterns, or usually spaced out in equidistant spots in a long line.
This was his offering today.
Berlin mutual-aid group raided by German police during a DIY HRT information/distribution event. The information we have so far indicates they were raided after publicly posting on social media that they would teach folks how to acquire cryptocurrencies and hormones online.
Adjust your threat models accordingly, folks.

Reverse Polish Notation (RPN) is a little weird to look at if you're not familiar with it, but it still has a diehard fanbase to this day.
Al Williams breaks down the RPN calculators you can still buy today.

Watched it the first time for the highly satisfying “Yeah! Go get him!!” reaction. But I’ll be bookmarking this to study exactly how El-Sayed handled it: his word choices and rhetorical structure, which parts he did and did not choose to engage with, how he did and did not let his interlocutor respond, what he left said and unsaid, how he held control of the framing of the whole conversation. This is a master class.
I doubt it is fully Linus, in the Old Days I could see him avoiding #ai
But the Linux Foundation (LF) is owned by the Large Corporations pushing #ai and the LF Pays Linus and some #Linux Developers. Since that is the case, I would expect this decision came directly from LF via the corporations.
But I agree, #linux + #ai is bothering me a lot. FWIW, posted using #NetBSD 11.0 via #firefox on a Thinkpad T430 :)
fun discovery: the hottest external point on my 3D printer is the USB stick.
Every elected official not yet screaming about Trump's grotesque attempt to persecute and deport #IlhanOmar needs to start. NOW.
@troberts A little factoid I came across recently to put the amount of money being spent in perspective...
The current USA datacenter Capex is running at about 1.8 Apollo Programs per year. That's the entire 11 or so year run of the Apollo program, inflation adjusted, twice over, being spent annually, and increasing.
To date AI datacenter rollout is currently the second most expensive works program ever in the USA (I think that it was the railway network the beats it), but it's spent that in a few years instead of decade and multi-decade scales like the other big programs.
Which kind of proves that there is enough money for us to have nice things, and a nice world, if the money is directed appropriately.,
On the way home a young lad was stopped with his broken down motorcycle - pulled over to see if he was OK, and got out my LED mechanics lamp to help him see what was wrong. he had a rough noise from his rear wheel, turned out a bungee cord come loose and wrap itself around rear sprocket and chain. I lent him the side cutters I keep in the car and he was able to cut most of the bungee cord, another chap who turned up got out of his car and helped yoink the metal bit of the bungee cord hook and the lad was back on the road and could get to work..

I'm starting to rewatch season 2 of the original Twilight Zone TV series. We canceled our Netflix quite awhile ago. One of our next door neighbours gave us access to their Netflix since they aren't planning to drop it. We use that on occasion to watch some shows.
I've been a fan of the Twilight Zone original series since first discovering it as a young child in the 1980s. I liked the colour series too but the original B/W series remains my fave.

@zzt Hey, just to clear this situation up:
We received the donation out of the blue with no knowledge of who these people are. We don't have any communication with them and don't know what (if anything) they want from us. Maybe they just want more traffic to their site, which is mostly about software.
Our rule is donations cannot come with restrictions/requirements/influence other than we add a logo to our site. They requested this. At the moment we have to follow our own bureaucratic rules.
@zzt I didn’t who FUTO was, so I looked at their web site. Yo! According to their web site they seem to funding a lot of open source projects, Haiku, Tor, etc. and some closed source project, e.g. Signal!!
This is not going to end well for the projects involved. I really hate this timeline!!!!
Tech CEOs: "AI is inevitable."
Voters in Vancouver, electing new school board trustees:
"Oh, you want me to pay £2 to park in a car park in a mobile deadspot? With no coin-based fallback. How am I supposed to download parking app number five with no mobile service and then agree to a 50 page ToS just to park the fucking car?"
The tech we have to use to interact with ordinary life is joyless, buggy spyware that has contempt for the end user. It's like a swarm of little Horizon systems making life a teeny bit shittier every day.
(AI enters from stage left with a swagger.)
