One of my coworkers commissioned me for a 100% wool lap blanket similar to the paw print blanket, but without the paw print holes. I put together something similar using Hobbii Snowstorm yarn and Suzette stitch, but unfortunately lost yarn chicken. I need to finish the last round of the ribbed border, waiting on a single additional skein to arrive. #crochet #yarn #arts #crafts #fiberarts
A taupe crochet wool lap blanket is spread out on a bed. The body is Suzette stitch, and most of a ribbed border has been completed. Stitch markers are holding spaces in each corner.

Sorry about your yarn chicken situation. I'm wondering how you or others price knitted stuff when doing it for others. It always ends up costing a lot by the hour! The last thing my kid did was a beautiful cowl, but it cost nearly 200. If this is too personal, please just ignore me. :)

No worries! I'm not planning to kill the job of this by making it a side gig, but I have had people suddenly crop up asking for commissions, so here's what I've come up with. For projects I want to do and would enjoy doing, for people I like, the price is about 2X the cost of materials. For projects that I think will be a bit more work than fun, or for people that I get along with, but don't necessarily need to cut a deal for; 3x the cost of materials. I'm still a beginner, so I'm not attempting anything too complex yet, but if I was using delicate or very difficult to work with yarn, or doing a very complicated pattern or lots of color changes, I'd charge more for that, too. As a general rule, I think two to three times the cost of your materials is a very fair place to start. Also, include shipping if you're shipping it!
