    I really like internet memes, and this one definitely made me smile 🙂

    It probably overestimates my role and should encourage more people to support open-source projects, particularly @thephpf, which handled the two recent critical security vulnerabilities exceptionally well by preparing patches, including for older, unmaintained versions, and by communicating with package maintainers in the distributions (like @ondrej and me), and by providing information to users.

    @remi I think you're underestimating yourself. I heard a lot of people talking about you these past few days. "Remi published the patched version", "Remi's repo is overloaded", "We have to update Remi's PHP in our Docker images", or from management "Who the hell is this Remi? Does he work for us?" etc.

    @remi @thephpf @ondrej We actually need a french style pitchfork + tractor blocking demonstration to get these donations in from all of those that's made so much money on everyone else's work!

    I've worked almost 11 years now as maintainer/developer for 10+ tiny open source projects and I've ended so many discussions with -"Sure, do you have the time or the money?" when feature request has come in...

    Give. Back. Now.

    @remi @thephpf @ondrej Thank you for making it easy to upgrade PHP of several versions on my servers! The world is a better place when collaboration replaces competition. I donated to Remi last week, and hope others consider doing so too.

    @remi @thephpf @ondrej Thanks to you all!

    Alt text: The xkcd Dependency meme, No. 2347, showing towering blocks labeled "All modern PHP installs", being propped up by two thin sticks. One stick is labeled "One guy called Ondrej" and the other is labeled "Another guy called Remi".

    @remi @thephpf @ondrej
    Ondrej is Slovak. The PHP guy is a Czech named Ondřej. Though I can't blame the meme creator because the Ř is arguably the most difficult sound in any Slavic language I've encountered. Even the щ can be mastered more easily.
