You'll be exposed to a diverse range of energy-related topics in areas like supply, renewables, policy, infrastructure and low carbon technology… to name just a few.
On the visualisation side we mostly live in React and Next.js, Mapbox and WebGL, with Blender for 3D and animation.
But we reach for whatever the job needs, so you'll be picking up new things regularly.
Can you pull a compelling narrative out of raw data and pick the right way to tell it?
If so, please consider applying:

I also recently write a post on the Octopus blog that lifts the curtain on the type of projects the team works on and how we deliver them.
If you're someone who loves to learn and thrives when challenged then this is the perfect role for you.
@robhawkes I'd love to discuss with you whether any of these opportunities could be developed as a Data Scientist or Data Analyst apprenticeship programme? 86% of everyone who's ever taken our apprenticeship got a 1st (the others all got 2:1s) and we have an achievement rate well in excess of the national average. It's a really strong programme for employers who want to shape their own talent pool.
@robhawkes I shall boost this in case one of my colleagues is interested.

... "and you can commute to London" :)
@mdione Where did you get that from? I work remotely in North Wales and we hire across Europe.
@robhawkes @mdione I suspect because the job listing says "United Kingdom / London" and "Hybrid".
oh! the first thing it says is "UK, London, hybrid".
damn, I wish I was a data eng person. But I'll keep my eyes open for other positions. They used to be UK only, or they always had this contradicting details?
@mdione @JeremiahFieldhaven Likely a quirk with the options we have on Lever, I don't know. I imagine the remote and EU aspect depends on teams etc. but my team has been 100% remote to date (not a requirement).
@robhawkes @mdione I can 100% see that being an issue with the job platform - the one at my place is similarly... lacking. It's a shame though, because you might be losing potential applicants who just see the "London/Hybrid" and move on without looking further.
Still, I wish you luck with finding a great candidate!
@JeremiahFieldhaven @robhawkes
TBH, that's what I do when I'm looking for new positions. Usually the goal is to send one CV per day, but the first step is to thresh all positions to find one to apply to.
Honestly, I even prefer that posts like yours already mention those parameters because they're the first filter.
note to self: must get off ar&e and build my own data system for my household energy data this summer, only been needing to do it for 2 years now. 🙄🤦♂️
@robhawkes yeah, nope. Can’t get there from here. Can’t get all of the data in one place. 🙄
