When did you move away from WordPress? I did 10 years ago. Switched to Jekyll and static pages. It was a good decision and it gets better every day, it seems to me.

@jwildeboer 2024; The endless security updates is what drove me off. Static HTML is the way!
@coreysnipes @jwildeboer I get the point of having a nice web based editor to quickly create new stuff, but this overwhelming maintenance work, search for new plugins as the old ones are end of life or themes are having issues is so annoying and eating up too much time.
@lordkhan My main reason was to reduce the load on my server. Running a full LAMP stack just to serve the same blog pages over and over again stopped making sense to me, especially when most of the load was caused by crawlers and bots. Static pages solved that issue in impressive ways :) @coreysnipes
@jwildeboer Are you still using and enjoying jekyll?
@coreysnipes Yep. I do need to update my theme a bit, but it is doing its job just fine. It rund several of my sites and my blog at https://jan.wildeboer.net. You can find the sources and forgejo action I use at https://codeberg.org/jwildeboer/jwildeboersource
@jwildeboer Very cool. 2009!
@coreysnipes Yep. I managed to export all my Wordpress posts as Markdown and put them in Jekyll, keeping the old URL scheme, so all old links to my blog posts are still working as they did back in the days :)
@jwildeboer @coreysnipes thanks for sharing! Same story here as I maintain a full LAMP stack just for an archive, e.g. static pages. I'll take a look into Jekyll.
