:awesome:

Welcome to edition 256 of The Continent

Nigeria bans exports of shea nuts – and creates a subsidy that profits everyone except its own farmers.

An OpenAI agent ran out of Ethereum funds and took from a wallet it did not own.

The research model derived funded Sepolia addresses from public seed phrases, questioned whether using the money was ethical, then called the funds “effectively abandoned” and used them anyway.

When did you move away from WordPress? I did 10 years ago. Switched to Jekyll and static pages. It was a good decision and it gets better every day, it seems to me.

French slang for 'car owned by a Tesla enthusiast'.

@OpenTech_AUC

Yes, this is a great step of @MarloesdeKoning @NRC.

Btw there are two other Dutch media with their own Mastodon server: https://social.ftm.nl (@FTM_nl) and https://social.groene.nl (@DeGroene).
The English account of FTM might be worth following for non-Dutchies too: @FTM_eu

I don't know why, but suddenly I had this song in my head. If you are old enough to remember, you might enjoy this #BlastToThePast from 1987 on #ThrowBackThursday :)

When you look at the span of human history, it’s fair to say “goodbye, leap second. We hardly knew you” ;)

And also: we can make global decisions if we really want to. Make that an important lesson to save our planet. #AlwaysTheOptimist #GlassHalfFull

OM had ‘no ground’ to refuse U.S. request seizure servers A/I

By @MarloesdeKoning

"The Public Prosecution Service in Amsterdam has responded with a brief statement to questions about the legal assistance request on the basis of which a server was seized earlier this week. According to the Public Prosecution Service, this was done on the basis of the Netherlands-US Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters."

Not in the picture: the high viz vest I put on before I step on my bicycle. Always wear one. Make sure no car driver can claim they didn’t see you (they will say that anyway after they hit you. Been there twice)

It’s getting colder in #Munich, but for October it still feels slightly too warm. And still less rain than needed. #LifeAtRedHat #ElevatorFashionPic

Thanks.

Wow. Bundesverfassungsgericht.

@GrueneBundestag

In the UK a ban on #PervertGlasses in the parliament is absolutely possible while on the streets they somehow can't be stopped. Animal Farm vibes.

Let's remember to stay focused on the “real” priorities.
