Touch ID on the iPad Air is a piece of shit. I wish the new Duo owners all the best in their future enedeavors.

My brother described headless guitars as invoking a kind of body horror among guitarists, similar to the reflexive feelings that surround the subject of amputation, and I can't help thinking he's right.

He's right. The term "tour-de-force" exists for things like this.
Stunning production value, no stone left unturned, and quite honestly, the objectivity of the review is bracing.
More importantly (for a *review*), it gives you ALL the information you need to make an informed decision. I would love to know how many people would make the same decision had they seen this.
The fact that I am left thinking this highlights how vapid most reviews really are.
So this was *very* good. Self-contained prequel to Friday the 13th, i.e. Jason's origin story. Tense, gory and a bit melodramatic, but top shelf if #horror is your jam.
And they did a spectacular job with the production design and the costumes, bringing 1972 to life extremely well. Lots of era-appropriate cultural references.
Kind of a special, unique vibe.

Watched this video and it's amazing how easy certain things are to do in Resolve. Definitely multicam/narrative edits seem easier. Also seems like if you come from broadcast you might feel more at home, too.
But it's also very jagged in look and feel, where Apple always makes things feel fluid. DVR feels more engineer-y, computer-y. Like Windows, or Premiere, or Pro Tools.
Still trying to get a sense of how much I'll stumble over before I commit to working in it...

Indeed. I had to create a similar amount at least for uploading to FilmHub.

This is a KILLER resource hub
"Animals"(2026, dir. Ben Affleck)
Starting to realise that Ben Affleck kind of has a brand, and whatever he decides to tackle will be relatively deep and nuanced, even as it stays within a genre.

"Hush" (2016, dir. Mike Flanagan)
Recommended by the youngs in my fam, this was surprisingly tense, and it was only after the credits were rolled that I realised that it had a pedigree.

If anyone needs watch recommendations (thread):
"In The Grey" (2026, dir. Guy Ritchie)
Top shelf, big budget action thriller. Very Guy Ritchie.

It's an extremely rare thing to want to listen to the song again as soon as it's finished.
Sparky knew that a long time ago there had been bipedal organic beings, who made this place. It must've been important, in those days—that's why he was here, after all, keeping it as it was, honoring their memory.
It was not known what became of them, or if they would one day return. Sparky supposed it didn't really matter. He had a purpose: to prevent entropy. So he completed his cycles, just as the star that summoned him each day would complete the crossing of the sky, and he was content.
