I just saw a category of movies "friends don't let friends scream alone" and in that category was the original Alien, which had the tag line "in space, no one can hear you scream." If a friend can't hear you scream, aren't you screaming alone?
"Takk for i dag." What a beautiful phrase. The robots of the search engines translate it as "thank you for today." The context I read it in seemed kind of like "thank you for listening." I just love Norwegian and the way full conversations center around the word "takk."

Trump getting a taste for weaponizing the government against his political enemies.
"Could take some time" is no joke. I started this about 13½ hours ago.
As far as I know, #gimletMedia started this thing where the ads read by podcast hosts have a music track that signifies advertising. I generally like that, BUT they should leave some room for creativity in the way an ad uses music. There’s a speaker company who advertises a lot on podcasts and one has copy referring to listening to music while walking between rooms without missing a beat. The appeal is lost when the beat is repetitive AF: you’re not really missing a thing.

I generally find #Danzig pretty annoying, but every now and then some great music pokes out around his self-important vocal style. “Mother” is a good example, although even that is best in the end credits of a TV show, cut down to intro, verse, chorus into bridge in about 12 bars. The album version has something like 4x that duration of uninterrupted vocals after a short intro, and that’s, well, a lot of Danzigness.
Another odd side project — I built a .NET service to monitor a UPS over the network and shut down my desktop when the power goes out. This was yet another project that came about because I couldn't quite find software that fit my requirements. I wrote a post explaining why I made it and the technologies involved in case it might help someone else solve a similar problem:

I had the absolute pleasure of working with #RJMitte on #BreakingBad and a few other things while he was still in our neck of the woods. I’m absolutely gutted that suicide got him. My partner eulogized him perfectly: “what a lovable smartass.”
Another great music video. This one about not being able to own anything anymore.
I did not know about Amazon’s “Iliad”
I am not understanding why the bills got the ball back
I’ve never seen the ref signal the turnover and then just change it when the pile is undone.
The signal is always “yep I saw what I need to see”
At #GaleyFarms today with the family in #victoriabc
This is a fun lil place to visit on the holiday
@keefeglise I like paprika
By the way, the statement "passkeys may lead to user-hostile consequences" is not the same as saying "TOTP and MFA are sufficient"

This offers another possible conclusion.
And yet I'm still forced to ask...when has a profit-seeking company *ever* passed up the opportunity to leverage an existing technical tool to further vendor lock-in and embolden DRM?
