    (work)

    Claude: "We need access to your Slack, your email, install this .sh script on your development environment, access to your email archives, your desktop files, everything, before you can start writing code with Claude."

    "Oh, your IT folks have approved this and recommend you give us access to everything!"

    This is like "Hi, I'm a random contractor! I'd like access to all of your files, archives, emails, Slack, permissions on your development machines, all your personal private keys, your own documents... it's the only way. Your guys hired me! I need it all!" 💀

    @Viss LOL I am liable to be persona non grata if I keep pointing out holes in ther AI/LLM strategy and implementation. 🤪 Going into "zip the lip" mode to not be first person out the next time they throw more people out the airlock. 😂 I keep pointing out issues (ie prompt hacking) stuff and it's not making them very happy. (better me than a hacker, IMHO... but)

    @ai6yr
    My workplace has a bit of pressure to adopt agent teams.
    The nature of my role is that I have to at least verify some scenarios.

    Anyway...now I have a very nice report that Claude put together showing how using agentic workflows in my day to day is unlikely to result in substantive efficiency gains, could result in a *loss* of productivity or effectiveness, and has unknown costs that do not justify exploring beyond trivial cases like collating meeting notes.

    And since AI tends to hype itself, providing that report to leadership has effectively eliminated that particular pressure

    So, to recap, the main benefit I've realized from AI is deflecting leadership pushing AI 🤡

    @Viss @pfriedma Non deterministic outputs are GREAT for making something that sounds like a human, but it is awful for software lol (imho).

    @morgan The cynic in me says someone has pitched the executives that they can completely clone employees with their tool, as long as they have access to everything the employee has ever produced.

    @ai6yr my son is a software dev. His token budget is 1.5x his salary. Strange days indeed.
