LOLOL (I have considered doing this in my alt text, but that wouldn't be fair to the actual non-sighted users here)
The only appropriate thing to do after seeing this storm name is post this song:

Hmm... Tropical Storm Pena formed overnight well south of Hawaii.
6 months later, first hole in the Darn Tough's. Do I fix it myself or send them in? #socks #darntoughs
LOL, Technics SL D2 and a Pioneer SX-780 here at a moving sale for a bargain price. (passed 'em up, not interested in reselling stuff and already have more turntables than one could possibly need, plus a receiver I fixed up myself, lol). The guy offered to give me all the records they had with the Technics for $100. But, no need for me to own EVERY SINGLE Barbara Streisand LP known to man. #garagesales
LA Times: LAX might not have a people mover, but it does have Brian who will write you a poem
"...She was about to board a flight to Nashville, where she would discuss AI regulation at a film festival for her job, when she stumbled upon Brian Sonia-Wallace, the poet laureate of Los Angeles, sitting at a 1940s-model Underwood typewriter writing custom poems for passing travelers. .... Sonia-Wallace describes the clacking of the typewriter as his siren song. He’s far from alone in his practice, as these types of analog, on-demand typewriter poetry sessions have become widespread in the last decade, championed by busking collectives and literary groups like the Poetry Society of New York and Ars Poetica. The inherent theater of it lures a crowd...."

The Guardian: How Republicans lost the Latino voters who elected Trump
"...Melendez, the owner of a small housebuilding company in south Texas, voted for Donald Trump in the presidential election two years ago, attracted by his promise to secure the Mexican border and improve the economy. But on Tuesday, he cast his vote for the Democrats in a display of pure anger.
Two of his cousins and up to 15 of his building workers have been picked up and deported to Mexico by ICE. When Melendez voted for Trump in 2024 he expected the immigration raids would focus on those with criminal records, he said, not his relatives and employees...."

🚨 URGENT PUBLIC NOTICE – BOIL/BOTTLE WATER ADVISORY
TOWN OF MANCOS
November 6, 2026
The Town of Mancos is notifying all customers served by the Town’s municipal water system that the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) has required a Boil/Bottle Water Advisory, effective
November 6, 2026.
WHY HAS THIS ADVISORY BEEN ISSUED?
Due to ongoing impacts from the recent flooding, the Town was required to allow inadequately treated water into the distribution system to maintain system pressure. Inadequately treated water may contain disease-causing organisms. This advisory has been issued to protect public health.
IMPORTANT WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS:
Residents and businesses served by the Town’s municipal water system should take the following precautions:
Bring tap water to a full, rolling boil for 3 minutes and allow it to cool before use.
Use boiled or commercially bottled water for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, preparing infant formula, washing fruits and vegetables, and making ice.
Do not consume unboiled tap water or ice from refrigerators or ice makers connected to the municipal water system.
Provide boiled or bottled drinking water for pets.
Take extra precautions to prevent infants and young children from swallowing water while bathing.
WATER CONSERVATION REMINDER
Residents are asked to continue conserving water and limiting nonessential water use while the Town addresses the ongoing impacts of the flooding.
HOW LONG WILL THE ADVISORY REMAIN IN EFFECT?
The advisory will remain in effect until CDPHE determines that the water system is operating properly and providing safe drinking water.
The Town is working with CDPHE to address the situation, including corrective actions, flushing the distribution system, and water quality testing.
The advisory will not be lifted until CDPHE provides written authorization.
The Town of Mancos will continue providing updates through its official Facebook page and website as additional information becomes available.
We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as we work to restore safe drinking water.
Please share this important notice with neighbors who may not have access to social media

LA Times: No one wanted this Long Beach home until waves crashed into its living room
"...A Long Beach Peninsula home that failed to sell for $4.95 million before being red-tagged after October’s storm is now listed for $2.9 million — and drawing developer offers.
Investors see opportunity in storm-damaged coastal properties as high interest rates and construction costs squeeze projects, even as erosion and a potentially severe El Niño raise the risks...."
