    @MissConstrue Yeah, I'm normally opposed to it, but, if the epstein class wants to push for death penalty for pedophiles... I'm not gonna stop that from biting them in the ass.

    I'm opposed to death penalty for two reasons.
    The stats were (are?) 1 in 8 people killed by the state were innocent. You can't appeal execution.

    The other reason is, sexual deviancy is a mental health issue. Executing pedophiles is absolutely no different to executing low IQ individuals who have diminished responsibility, or burning epileptic because demons posses them. Not to mention gays are being included as pedophiles by the conservatives. The "groomer" argument is used against trans and drag queens. In my native #Australia book readings for kids by drag queens were shut down because of the hostile groomer argument.

    Even saying "Maybe we shouldn't kill pedophiles" will open me to accusations of being one.
    And that should give you a pause about how easy it is to accuse people.

    @n_dimension @MissConstrue Yeah, I don't think the death penalty is good - my point wasn't that it should be allowed generally.
    I'm just not opposed to the pedophiles running a lot of US government and businesses, who are actively pushing for the death penalty as part of their neonazi eugenecist policies, get executed by the laws that exist because of their own actions in the first place.
    If the nazis want the death penalty - they can have it. For themselves. Not for the rest of us.

    Therein is the core of my argument, which perhaps did not land the way I intended. I oppose the death penalty. The state doesn't have the right to commit murder. But if someone says "all Y should be stoned" and they get elected because they say that, and then they work to enact a law that says that...and then, and THEN they go out and do Y over and over and over again....

    Even as an ethicist, I find it difficult not to see some sort of almost biblical, justifiable retribution...

    @MissConstrue @n_dimension I mean, I think of it as...
    If I openly, publicly, repeatedly say I think we should punish Y by doing X,
    And take steps to make X the punishment for Y,
    and I do Y,
    It should be taken as consenting to X, so long as I am guilty of Y - an "opt-in" to X.
