Aug 19, 2026, 6:16 PMTherein is the core of my argument, which perhaps did not land the way I intended. I oppose the death penalty. The state doesn't have the right to commit murder. But if someone says "all Y should be stoned" and they get elected because they say that, and then they work to enact a law that says that...and then, and THEN they go out and do Y over and over and over again....
Even as an ethicist, I find it difficult not to see some sort of almost biblical, justifiable retribution...
