As the days go by, and the millions just keep coming, you want for nothing.

Each day, you reach out to neighboring communities, funding an end to their hunger/homeless problems. Within a month, no one in your state is going hungry. In two months, no one is living on the street.

After a year, your entire extended family is rich. There’s no debt. No one worries about money.

Poverty has been eliminated in your community and significantly reduced in your state.

    The millions just keep coming.

After ten years, you live lavishly. You’ve single-handedly eliminated poverty from your entire region. No one starves or freezes to death on the streets.

The years go by and the money just keeps coming. You’ve stopped trying to figure out how to spend it on yourself years ago - you own homes around the world at your favorite travel destinations.

It’s the year 2076. You’ve been given 18.2 billion dollars. You’ve eliminated extreme poverty from your entire country. You’ve improved the quality of life for millions of people. There are songs and stories written about you.

You pass away. The money continues to pour into your estate, a million dollars a day.

    Years go by. Decades.

    Centuries.

    Millennia.

At long last, it’s the year 4765. The last million dollars is given to your estate.

    You’ve finally received a total of…

    One trillion dollars.

    @OGJester

Just so. Another way of putting crazy wealth in perspective, a person on minimum UK wage working 40 hours / week for 45 years will earn barely £1.2 million over their lifetime.

@OGJester if, whoever was transferring the money started at $1T and had a mere 1% interest on an annual basis:
    - After 73 years they had $2T in their account
    - After 235 they had $10T
    - After first 1000 years they had $10Q (quadrillion) = $10 000T

@OGJester could solve world hunger with that
    As Elon was told
And then refused to follow through.

@noodlemaz I believe it’s because, as I wrote elsewhere, his “wealth” is all stock market mysticism, not real wealth. If he starts selling stock in his own companies, investors will see it, start panic-selling, rapidly drive the share price down, and his “fortune” evaporates overnight.

He didn’t put up that money because he doesn’t really have it.

@OGJester @noodlemaz he doesn’t need to. Lets say his net worth is 1 trillion. Assume a very poor 5% return (im sure Elon woukd be embarrassed if he was inly getting 5%). That means an income of 50 billion per year (also an inconceivable amount!) so roughly a billion dollars a week.
The original was nowhere near on the scale of the truth :(
