“The Anthropic scientists [..] said that their A.I. had taken “the first steps of a biological discovery on its own.””

[Mario Rodríguez Mestre, a computational biologist] “disputed that claim. “They are the same systems we have been studying for years,” he said. And they are the same enzymes, he said, that he had described to Anthropic’s A.I.”

AI companies stealing people’s work and claiming that their AI is making new discoveries. How long before humanity stands up to these companies?

Does your clock really need a full Box2D physics model. No. But is does make it a lot more fun.

This is my BadClock™.

It runs late when you don’t wind it. Hands fall off when you’re too rough and it forgets how DST works. So it may adjust your clock in the wrong direction. Or not. Who knows.

@JenMsft random question: is there any way on this earth to hide/disable the location use triangle by the clock? I have a user who is emotionally disturbed by the fact that it appears and disappears frequently.

A note from a very tired editor, it is almost always more appropriate to write "use" rather than utilize or leverage.

First time I've said "The dinosaurs were blasted into orbit when the meteor struck, meaning they technically won the space race" as a motivational metaphor in an important client presentation.

If a tree falls in the woods, but there are no KPIs to track this, did it really happen?

Fell behind on my timeline and need some space to catch up.

I have no intention to ever unfollow @donmelton, but sometimes I need to declare bankruptcy to catch up. ♥

@batkaren I used to work for an ecommerce company that had an in-house studio for product photos. On our first day, they gave me & my new coworkers a tour

The photo studio had a black couch... you know which one I mean

I locked eyes with the dude next to me and we both got wide-eyed as both realized that the other knew. Then a woman walked up and announced, "it's the porn couch!"

I was recently asked advice from a non-developer on handling developers they suspect are fobbing them off, saying “sorry this can't be done”. I’ll tell you what I told them:

Lead with “I strongly suspect this can’t be done but...”

The developer will now do everything in their power to prove you wrong. You are welcome.
